How many have had a horrible incident in a restaurant? mabe a cockroach?  

We had gone out to dinner there were four of us, and we ordered, and our salads were brought to the table, when my friend who was sitting to my left jumped, I looked over and we watched a hugh roach coming out of her salad, needless to say we were not interested in eating our salads and we cancelled our order and wanted to leave.

The manager tried to make us pay for our meal and stay, we had no intentions of eating anything there, and we paid for our drinks, he did offer us a gift certificate for future visit.

As if this was some kind of scam and we were trying to get a free meal.

Well we were not. We didn't eat any meal, and barely started on the salad, thankfully and so we paid for our sodas and left the place, refusing to pay for meals we ordered telling him to cancel the order.

He expected us to pay for the food even though we had NO intention of eating anything there.

I guess he backed down when he realized this was no scam, at all because if we were trying to scam him there would not have been four FULL salad plates on the table, and we would have eaten our meal, not gotten up to leave.

It turned my stomach, and we of course never went back there. As it is none of us ate anything that night we could have gone somewhere else, eaten at home etc, but we were to turned off by watching a roach crawl off the plate and across the table.

If you go into the kitchens of most restaurants, you would stay home!!

Several years ago I was in a cafe in Kentucky with my ex and her dad for lunch.

As I have a weakness for breaded onion rings when I found them on the menu I ordered some along with my meal.

I noticed a funny odor when we walked into the place but didn't think much of it. It wasn't until I had eaten a few of those onion rings that I finally realized what was wrong... the onion rings had an odd taste and I kept trying to figure it out.

Turned out that the deep fryer needed cleaning and the grease was rancid. Needless to say, I paid for those bad onion rings for the rest of the day, and still wasn't feeling real good the next day.

When I was a kid we had a place in town that was nestled in an old building that called itself Dowdy's Luncheonette.

It was infested with cockroaches, and they were all over the place before it finally got shut down. It had been there for years, and I guess the roaches had completely taken over that one group of buildings, and it was a really nasty place to be eating.

Ok, this happened just recently. My husband and I went into one of our favorite Asian resturants. We used to go to this place several times a year, but won't be going back again.

It's a buffet style resturant, and we'd been watching the gentleman from the back coming out and restocking the food, then going back into the kitchen. He did this several times, while we went back to the counter and refilled our plates a couple of times.

Before we left, my husband had to use the restroom. So, I sat at the table waiting for him. It didn't take him long, and when he came back, he was furious. He said he'd never walk into that place again EVER!!!!!

When he went to use the restroom, the door was locked because it was occupied. The gentleman we'd seen filling the buffet came out of the bathroom, wiping his hands on his apron. When my husband entered the bathroom, he could see that the man had used the toilet, but hadn't flushed. And, the bathroom sink was bone dry. The room smelled horrible, and that was all it took.

We've never been back since.

I have never experienced anything as horrid as that in a restaurant but I have experienced really poor service and I have had to say something and have never returned to tha paricular restaurant again. In fact this Saturday I went for a meal, which was tasty but very expensive. I ordered 2 drinks which when we got the bill they had charged us £12.00 for which was excessive. I was told we had a drinks list on the table so we knew in advance of the price, but we never when we sat down and they halved the drinks price to £6.00 instead. I don't mind paying a little more but to buy this drink in a pub next door you were looking at £2.50 per drink. Ellie :D

Ewww! A little call to the health department was in order for sure. I'll tell you what I do. When I go into a restaurant, I look for their grade. If their grade is below a 95 I don't eat there. So many people don't understand. If I can't see their grade, it means they are probably hiding somewhere in an obscure place. I will ask for it. It happened that way recently and I asked and the woman pointed in the general direction of where it was, and I looked and it was a 68... needless to say we left immediately. It's those dirty restaurants that have the roaches, and the mice droppings and all. I just won't go there to eat.. and really I feel better eating at home.

my fiance and i went for a meal a few months ago and because i love lobster i ordered a full lobster and garlic...when it arrived i opened the shells up and it was green inside, i stunk so bad that it made me heave, my fiance took a sample and put it in some tissue because he wanted it to be tested, i took the lobster back to the counter and showed the waiter who then took it away, it was horrible....3 other people got lobster too so my fiance told them what mine was like...it was rotten inside, so we left without paying, some time later we had a letter of apology from the restaurant asking us to come back and have a free family banquet, we reclined the offer because the last time we went the food was awful...we have never been back, and since then the place has been shut down because the environmental health people found rat droppings in the kitchen and rotten meat stored in a cupboard which didn't have refridgeration...

Well not that bad but I had a tray full of drinks spilt on me. I was soaked when I left and it was like very cold outside. I did get my meal for free but not worth it at all id have rather been dry. the waitress did feel really bad.

I won't even eat at a restaurant unless they have an "A" sanitation rating (luckily I have never seen one below an "A" in any of the places I have been to over the course of my life, knock on wood). Of course, I realize that doesn't mean they are perfect and things can slip from time to time... Luckily I have never had a horrific experience such as those mentioned in this thread! I hope I never do!

I went to a Chinese Food resteraunt to order take-out, and when I came home with it, I opened the box to find 2 flies flying around my house and food...ugh I was disgusted
