The Boomerang Affect?

This is an awfully random question, I have to say. I'm sure you had a fabulous reason for asking it, though.

I can't recall this ever happening to me, but I have had trash sitting outside and ever after the G people have come and gone, the trash is still sitting there. That's one of those WTF moments that seems to happen to me rather frequently.

This will never happen here in the Philippines. Any garbage is accepted because most of those who get this garbage will segregate it at once and sell it to junk shops. even large old beds and old TVs are accepted because junks shops accepts them. there are even cases when our garbage end up being used again by some garbage collectors. if in case i throw away old clothes and shoes or anything i do not want in my house, i wrap them in plastic and give it personally to the garbage collector so that they can segregate it and use whatever they need there.

I must say Trans, I have never had this happen.
Our trash cans are supplied by the council.
We are supplied with very large trash cans on wheels with handles.
If someone wanted to they could quite possibly dispose of their spouse in our trash cans,
And still have heaps of room to put the trash in on top of them.

This is hysterical...I just had this issue last week. We have a garbage can that got hit by the snowplow a couple of weeks ago. So, last week after garbage pick up, hubby says "I hope they took the busted garbage can today" and I just looked at him and said "you've never tried to throw away a garbage can have you?" He thought for a moment and realized the irony of the situation. ROFL!!

I believe when I had this situation before I finally had to have the landlord take it- they would come around once a week and take the bigger stuff the garbage trucks wouldn't take. This time, we have decided to separate our paper trash from food-related stuff (we have to worry about bears around here...they're not as nice as you Transdisc ) and we can use the busted up one for the paper stuff. Eventually, as moving in/unpacking settles down, we will not need the extra can because our trash amount will go back down to normal, and I imagine we will have to take it to the transfer station ourselves.

Yep it has happened to me, we sat the thing out there for 3 trash pickup days (had cracks in the bottom and up the side. ) TheyNever did pick it up, on the 4th time around I busted it up and put it in the big trash can. Same thing happened with a dead vacuum cleaner we took it apart after the second week and they still didn't take the stupid thing. Like,sure we wanna keep the darn thing, have it beside the trash can taken apart . Finally I sat it up on top of the biggest trash can and i guess they got the hint. lol

I often wish we had trash cans, so we could try to throw them away if necessary. We have a garbage hut here, and we can only access it with our own personal key. It contains the trash bins, as well as the recycling bins. It's at the opposite end of our complex, so it's a pain to get the trash there.

In the case you've mentioned, I'd try putting a huge sign on the trash can in question, telling them you want to dispose of it. Not much help here, but that's all I can think of. Take care.

I really dont have this to worry about, we are our own g-people. If we want it thrown away, we take it with us when we take the trash off and just discard it also.

Rotflmao Trans now here is something I have actually tried to do... you are soo soo right too. We left a big sign on taped to the can after 2 failed attempts to get them to pick it up... The sign read Throw me away in black bold sharpie..;.

No it did not happen. I guess our trash guys do not read english. or they do not read the trash cans. mark gave up and hauled it off to the dump with an old bed frame i wanted to get out of the shed.

It was hilarious.

Hah! When we signed up for trash pickup at our first little home in the suburbs many years ago, we paid the garbage bill in advance but for 2 weeks they skipped our can. Finally I dragged myself up at 4 in the morning to lie in wait for them and ran out to the street to flag the guys down. The lead guy said if I wanted them to pick up the trash it wasn't enough to pay the bill, but I would also have to tape a $20 bill to the bottom of the can.

Needless to say I was not amused. However, after calmly explaining that he needed spectacles if he thought he saw "STUPID" written across my forehead, I went in and wrote a very nice letter to his boss and his boss's boss with cc's to a half dozen bosses above him, documenting exactly what had happened. The next pickup day and all succeeding days our trash was picked up on schedule. Now we live in condos and do not have to worry about such things.
