1. gitfiddleplayer (1112) | 3 months ago | I was born before Ranch dressing so I had to endure bland veggies. Now our family has them everyday. My kids would rather eat veggies sometimes, we make a veggie plate so they will have a reason to eat at the table and by the time we get dinner on they're full. We love salads and we top them with crutons, sesame seeds and whatever we can.

2. CherylsPearls (637) | 3 months ago | Oh, gosh yes! I love vegetables! I used to love going to my Grandma's house every July (which was 500 miles away), because hey had a whole block in town filled with fruits and veggies! Nobody ever had to teach me to eat them; I've always loved them. I remember once when I was about 8, we were on our way to my Grandma's and we stopped at a Holiday Inn for breakfast. I ordered tomato juice to drink. At that time, processed orange juice was terrible. Most of it had the entire orange ground up in it, skin and all. Anyway, the waitress said, "You don't want tomato juice; I'll bring you orange juice. I told her no, that I did want tomato juice. She said "Children don't like tomato juice." I was at a loss for words then! lol My Mom finally said, "Bring her the tomato juice!" lol I don't know why I've never forgotten that. My children? One of my oldest daughter's first words was broccoli. She still loves it. I don't believe in making children eat anything, but if offered in the right way, most children will eat their veggies, I think.

I was never made to eat veggies as a kid, especially cooked ones. I did eat the raw ones on my own though. I used to really love carrots.

6. lkbooi (4552) | 3 months ago | Yeah gie, all the members of my family are veggies lovers. My kid loves veggies more than meat since his childhood. Most of the dishes prepared for our daily three meals are vegetables. We prefer to take more leafy vegetables. Other than veggies we do take lots of fruits per days. We have some veggies plants like long beans and water spinach etc in our courtyard.Taking more veggies and fruits are very good for our health especially in bowel movement.

7. drknlvly6781 (1910) | 3 months ago | As a child, I ate most vegetables. Greens I couldn't stand though. As I got older, and tried different people's greens, I grew to like them. Now there aren't too many vegetables I won't eat. My son is completely the opposite. He doesn't like meat too much. My grandmother says its just a phase; I say it was her repeating it over and over because one night he didn't want to eat his meat -_-*. Before we moved into her house, he would eat meat. Then it was a couple of times after we moved in, that he didn't like the meat that was served for one reason or another. My grandmother started talking about him being a vegetarian, and now he won't eat meat unless its a hot dog, bologna, or in Chef Boyardee. I don't let him get away with it though, I still give it to him.

drknlvly6781 (1910) | 3 months ago | Yes, it would make him healthier in that aspect. Its just that a couple years ago he had a problem with gaining weight. Actually, it was diagnosed as failure to thrive. He stayed the same weight for about three years. Me and his father were trying to get him to eat at the time, but all he wanted to do was drink pediasure, which the doctors had put him on when his weight problem was first noticed. It was supposed to help, but since he wanted it instead of food, it was really hurting him. He did finally start to gain weight, but that was right before we came to my grandmother's house. So now my grandmother doesn't allow me to make him eat the meat, he's loving it because he gets what he wants, and all the while I'm worried that he might slip back into the same thing.*Sigh* I have to move.

giePortlandOR_08 (3930) | 3 months ago | You know most child on that age are like that. They are chossy on food and they don't have appetite to eat.Mostly they eat junk foods .Does he love to eat those? My daughter was very thin when at that age.She doesn't eat much but when she was on her 4th grade she started to learn eating nutritious food and gain more weight.I hope your son will be able to gain weight soon.Do you think he should take any vitamins to increase his appetite?Or does he already?
| |
|
|
drknlvly6781 (1910) | 3 months ago | He rarely gets junk food, but he doesn't take vitamins either. The doctors didn't continue his prescription for that. He is of a normal weight for now, but I fear if this continues, he may stay this weight for too long, like he did before.
| |
|
|
giePortlandOR_08 (3930) | 3 months ago | I think vitamins didn't help that much because when my daughter was very thin i gave her vitamins but she stayed the same so i stopped it but then after a couple more years without it she began to gain weight.I think its just a matter of their appetite.Maybe you should give him a nutritious and tempting food so he would eat more.Kids easily attracts when the food looks good and nice. But you know it is normal for his age to gain and sometimes lose weight because they are already very playful.

9. desertdarlene (5475) | 3 months ago | My parents always made sure we had at lease one green vegetable at lunch or dinner. I am kinda glad my parents fed me right, too, when I was a kid. We were never overweight like I see a lot more kids be nowadays. But, I didn't really like vegetables and I didn't really eat them until I started to gain weight and, later, have some other health problems. Part of the reason was that they were so expensive. There used to be a food program where I could get them for a good price, but that program is long gone. Now, I eat them all the time.
