billy joel or bruce springsteen?  

i think both have a great talent and i like both of them, but i like billy joel better because of the songs he has written and the meanings that they have such as allentown and goodnight saigon.

Billy Joel for me too, simply because I heard a lot of him. Billy Joel's "Just the Way You Are" is one of my favorite as well as Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA."

That's a REALLY tough one. I don't think I know Bruce Springsteen's music as fully as Billy Joel's. From what I can gather, Springsteen typically has really interesting lyrics, sometimes that can have some strong social commentary. And he's always surprising you. He's also like the Energizer Bunny (just keeps going and going and going). But I do think Billy Joel managed to play a lot of different styles of music in his songs. If you pick up an album like The River of Dreams, which I'll admit is not his strongest, you'll still realize that he is able to pull off a lot of different genres of music. But then again, Paul Simon does that and does that better, so that's not necessarily what I listen to Billy Joel for. AH! I can't decide. Good question though, I feel like they're very comparable.

Wow, that is a tough question. They are so completely different. I love Bruce Springsteen's "all American" style, but I really enjoy Billy Joel's soft piano playing.

It has to be Bruce for me as he's one of my all-time heroes.

I find Bruce's songs have a depth and a raw yet tender energy that very few can equal, let alone surpass.

I'm afraid I have very little time for Billy Joel as I find his music holds no appeal for me in the slightest.
