movies that you can't handle

Then we'd better start treating our vets properly. How this country treated the Vietnam vets was/is disgusting.

And absolutely no offense,just conversation... but if a spit in the face was what bothered you so much you couldn't watch it...how do you watch regular prime time TV? that crap on there is so disgusting I can't understand why anyone watches it! I don't watch any prime time anymore. Crimes and victims and gorey details and killings and rapes and murders and savage explicit crimes and acts of violence....I don't see how it gets approved to be aired and no wonder there are so many crimes these days ... they are just acting out what they saw on TV last night!

I haven't heard of this movie- My brother is a soldier who served 1 year in Iraq- He recently got home (about a month ago).
I do not watch any movie that I do not like- if it is 1 scene- I might just stick with it and see ig it gets better- but if it is really bad- it's off. Or I'm out of the room.

Not all things in life are nice,and so we have movies to remind us of this,

It was not the USA president who was boo'ed or spat on nor did he find it hard to find a job after Vietnam, He did not have the night mares where he was all alone, and all those around him had no idea what he was going thru.
He was not refused medical assistance by the DVA.

Nor would many people in USA, we had the same here in Australia, and I would say the same in New Zealand as we both had service people there, in Vietnam.

Even today we still have the knockers about Vietnam and they still blame the soldier,

Maybe they should look at the white house and those faceless people who made the orders, the house of congress, there are many to blame for Vietnam but let me tell you, THE VIETNAM VETERAN is the last person anyone should point their DIRTY FINGER at.

He SERVED the NATION when It CALLED,and was spat on for it, HOLD YOU HEADS IN SHAME for that disrespect and may you all carry that to your grave.

Blessed are every VIETNAM VETERAN for he was the FINEST and the BEST.

I understand when you point a finger at some one there are 3 comming back at you.

Maybe some should remember this.

I do not watch any war, horror, or terribly violent movies. I can't even stand the war scene in "Forrest Gump." My ex-boyfriend use to try to get me to watch those kind of movies with him, but I couldn't. I would wander off and find something else to do while he watched them.
He felt that because he would watch my love stories and family movies with me, that I should be willing to return the favor. I was always willing, I just couldn't. I would start out watching them and then something would happen to upset me and I would leave. I completely understand how you feel.

I do think I watched this movie years ago.
and altho it might have been hard for you to watch I would think it would be a good lesson for kids to watch and you point out that it is just not acceptable for things like that to happen to other people or to our people in arms!
And I sure hope this dont happen to the people who are fighting now as they are sent there by our governmet to keep us free and it is a war where all things happen but the shouldiers should be respected for what they have gone thru and not harased when they get back. My son cant stand loud noices yet and he has been back sice Jan.
WHen he went to Desert Storm awas the same he was shell shocked took months to get adjusted to sounds of normal life here.

I don't remember that I ever saw that movie, Mooch. I don't blame you a bit for not watching it. There is one I can't watch either.. and that is Saving Private Ryan. I tried watching it, but when the guy (I think it was Private Ryan) that lost his arm and he had to go after it and pick it up... I lost it right there. I have never watched that movie since and will not ever.

As a veteran I think I would like to see this movie. I have read many books about Vietnam and about how the vets were treated and how they handled everything when back.

Sounds like a movie you don't want to let the kids watch, but also a movie that would be very informative, and to see what actually goes on in the minds of the veterans.

Much as I loved the cast I too had too many problems
with this movie and finally just gave up and turned
it off. I just dont watch tv much anymore because so
much is stupid sitcoms which I cannot stand and we do
not have cable any longer so there went the channels
that I did like. Oddly I also turned it off just after the
Vietnam vet spit on the girl. I was alreadynot feeling
too good so that was my breaking point.
Iimagine we will see this also with the young men and young women coming back from Iraq. Already in my hometown I have read
of a returned marine who had had a series of flashbacks and
during the last one he shot and killed his own wife so these
people will need some help probably to get backinto their
old lives again.

I don't think I ever saw the movie, I don;t think I would like the scene but I wouldn't let the scenes stop me from seeing the movie, because I like realism, people are people some people soldiers or not do that. Doesn't mean every soldier does but some do. But I understand if you couldn't see the movie, and I don't blame you one bit for not wanting your children to see it.

No, I have'nt watched this particular movie,but after reading the screenplay, I would surely like to switch it off.Allthough,there are certain movies,which are really disgusting because of vulgarity and violence....for example, the Saw, or its sequels. what do you think??
