increased hours on the job not in the contract  | |  in my husbands work contract it states 42.5 hours, yet my husband is working longer hours then that. he actually does 9.5hrs per day which is his actual start and finish times as well, 9.30-7pm. but of course they will say well the lunch hour is added onto that of an hour per day and thats where the extra hours come in. but, and i say a big but, my husband dont get a lunch break and when he complained the other day to the boss, the boss just said, well we are paying you for it, but they are not. my husband had to drive for 9 hours flat out without a lunch break and the boss just dont care. i checked up that my husband is entitle to so many breaks especially with driving as well. as also in my earlier discussion i put up about the guy that died on the job having a heart attack.

| | | | | | 1.  sedel1027 (10517) | 3 months ago |  The first thing I would do is contact the HR department. It is illegal for him to work such hours with no break. Anything over 6 hours, you are entitled to at least a half hour lunch break. The only other course of action is to use the company.

| | | 2. Foxfire1875 (915) | 3 months ago |  I don't know where you live but it is against the law in th UK to work for longer than 6 hours without a break. Your husband should contact the union for his work or get some advice as he should not be working longer than contracted to.
It isn't easy these days as the boss will threaten to fire him but as long as he finds out his rights first before confronting his boss he should be okay.
Good luck and I hope your husband gets this fixed or finds a better job.
