Yeah we call them dirt devils.. just little cyclones of sand looks like a tiny tornado. I've seen them in south GA.

I know these things. We call them dirt devils here in my part of Ohio. I do not know what causes them but they are really neat to watch in a dirt field. A baseball diamond is another great place to see one. I think that the dirt devils are kinda pretty in a way.

I have seen them in Arizona where they call them dust devils....little cyclones of sand that spin for just a while the fizz out. It's kinda cool watching them!

I've seen those quite often in the past, usually during a dry hot summer. We used to call them dust devils, or dirt devils, I think what they're called is different in different areas of the country. They are kind of weird looking but neat to watch, lol.

I have seen quite a few of them. As a matter of a fact growing up as I remember it, they were called dust devils.

Be vary careful with them, they can pick up trash and even fire! We get them here in Nevada a lot and one time when I was attending a brush fire one came thru and my work mates said you have to watch for the hot embers in them which besides being able to burn you they also spread the fire past the fire line. I saw one once pick up a two man tent and carry it 100 feet into the air! Dust devils or dirt devils, whatever their name, they can pack a wallup.

Yeah, I've seen those before, too. It is pretty strange. I actually just saw one the other day when I was on the phone. I was standing out on the back porch talking to someone on the phone when I noticed it. There were some leaves from the porch that got lifted up and swirled around for a few seconds. It's always kind of interesting to see.
