Has anyone donated blood?Why do you do or not do that?

No I have never as I was always afraid of passing out.

I should as I have a popular blood type.

well, it's great to donate blood to help others save their life. actually i want to donate my blood, but they don't allow me . they said my weight is less then the minimum weight. my weight is 50 kilos, and to be eligible to donate blood should have 55 kilos or more.

I did so as I know theres always a shortage on blood in the hospitals.
Its not painful at all apart from that big needle which is in your arm, thats a little tugging at the arm in fact and thats all there is.
I would like to go on and donate more blood but I am diabetic and its not safe any more for my own health when I do it.

I used too--even when I knew I'd pass out (usually from lack of eating!). I'd gotten to about a gallon when I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis; they no longer took my blood. Now they're taking it again (no chance of possibly infecting anyone!), but I haven't the time to sit and do that.

the university that i go to has blood drives every year. ive donated twice. its a good way to clean out your system as well, so ive heard. and it also saves peoples lives. ive always had this fear of needles though, but that doesnt stop me from donating blood.

While I was in high school, we would have a blood drive twice a year. People who did it (that were old enough...atleast 17) would just to get out of class. I personally donated blood twice. I had a bad experience the last time and I haven't donated since. That was about eight years ago. The woman who was taking my blood missed my veing THREE times. In poking me so many times (and missing) she hit the muscle in my arm. My arm bruised really badly (it stayed bruised for about a month afterwards) and was sore for a week. I feel kind of bad that I haven't given blood since, because I know that what happened that time was just the woman doing it messed up and it wouldn't always be like that, but I just haven't done it since.
