Who here has seen the Star Wars movies?Who has seen the Lord of The Rings movies?Which series do you like better? Why do you like that series better?Who is your favorite character is the one you like better? What is your favorite scene from the one you like better?I have never really been into the Lord of The Rings movie, and I have never actually watched any of them, but I have heard they are preatty good movies, but I have always have loved the Star Wars movies, because I love Sci-Fi movies, and I love the idea of people fighting with lightsabers, and I love the characters who are in the Star Wars movies.I would have to say that my favorite character from the Star Wars movies would have to be Han Solo because he is sarcastic and he may act selfish but he always came through in a pinch,I would have to say my favorite scene would have to be when Luke is trying to destroy the first Death Star, and Lord Vader is on his tail, and is about to shoot him out of the sky, when out of nowhere Captain Han Solo comes soaring in and sends Lord Vader hurdling into space. What are the Lord of The Rings movies about?Do you think they would be worth my time to watch? What actors play in the movies? How many Lord of The Rings movies are there?

I have heard a lot of good things about Lord of The Rings and I bet they are really good, and I do respect the fact that you arent into Sci-Fi movies, because not everyone is going to like every genre of movie.

I have seen all of these movies and I love both of the trilogies but I like the starwars film better. For one thing its not as long as each of the lord of the ring movies. But I like the special effects better and I like the space theme. And I also think the action is better but I like the acting better for the lord of the rings movies better.

That is cool that you love both trilogy's and I concur that Star Wars is better, and I know that the Star Wars movies are not as long as the Lord of The Rings movies, and I think that is one of the reasons I love the Star Wars movies,I also love the special effects and the space theme, and the Star Wars movies do have a lot of action in then,I think the Star Wars movies have a lot of great acting in them especially by Harrison Ford, who plays Han Solo, but I am sure the acting in the Lord of The Rings movies is superb too.

i've not really watched star wars. however i'm a GREAT fan of the LOTR series. i even read the books to know more about the story. my favourite character must be aragorn, or strider. there are a total of three LOTR movies though you should watch it as one. meaning a total of nine hours sitting in front of the tv to complete the trilogy at one go. even if you don't like mythical stories, just the scenery is already worth you while. i can't really say which is my favourite scene. go watch it, you'd not regret it.

Thats cool that you have never watched Star Wars, and that is also cool that you are a great Lord of The Rings fan,and thats cool that you have read the books,I never have liked reading or I would read the books,,who is Aragorn?Who is Strider?Thats cool that there are three movie, even though nine hours is a long time to sit infront of a television lol,but it sounds like it would be worth it,and I do kind of like mythical stories, and I will try to rent them sometime, and I defitnally think it will be worth watching from all the good responses I am getting about it.

strider is actually a name that aragorn uses when he travels far and wide. he is played by Viggo Mortensen though he looks so different in the show. i fell in love with the character as it was so well played. though most people likes the elf legolas or the wizard gandalf, i still like aragorn. go and rent it, you'll not regret it. though it's best to do it over a long weekend or something when you have no other commitments. it can be rather addictive. i've watched it at home myself twice though i've already caught it at the cinema. i'm planning on doing it again. :D

oh thats cool that Strider is the name that Aragorn uses when he travels far,and I would have never guessed that they were one in the same,I dont think I have ever heard of Viggo Mortensen but he sounds very good at what he does,I will defitnally go rent it sometime, though right now it is quite difficult to leave house due to the high gas prices, and I will defitnally heed your advice and watch it when I have no other commitments, and thats cool that you plan on watching it again, and it does sound like it can get quite addicting.

Thats cool that you have watched both, and I agree both are really great movies, and I respect that you like Lord of The Rings better than Star Wars, even though I disagree, and I am very interested in watching Lord of The Rings sometime, and I know they are quite different from each other, but one thing they have in common is they are both quite popular, even still today.

They can't be compared, not by acting, special effects or anything.
Why?
Star Wars special effects were older ( in the first ones) and they still manage dto create cool looking ships, they rodo-scoped the lightsabers and such.
While the Lord of the Rings special effects , because of the genre, consist in Blue Screen(Green Screen) 3D Effects .
Acting?
Extraordinary , on both sides, they did what was required .
It's like saying:
The Exorcist vs Epic Movie
They were both great movies but 2 very different genres ( like in star wars, swords vs lasers)
Exorcist made me scream
Epic Movie made me laugh
Which one is better?

From what I have heard about Lord of the Rings and from watching Star WarsI think the special effects from both movies are awesome, and the the ones who did the special effects knew what they were doing. And with the acting I know the acting in Star Wars was awesome, and from what I have heard it sounds like the acting in the Lord of The Rings movies is just as good, and I know they are two different genres, but they are both very popular, and both have a lot of fans,I have honestly seen neither of those movies,so I have no idea which one is better, but I usually prefer funny movies to scary movies.

This is easy Lord of the Rings, as watched the movie twice when the movie released in 1978. I'm talking about the first 10 days when the lines were long. This was amazing for me, as don't like long lines.
I taught 5th and 6th grade and for English they read Lord of the Rings. The students enjoyed it so much that they decided to do a play for their parents. It was so much fun to see students want to attend class, as you had to be in class each day or couldn't be in the play. When the word went out about the play all of the 5th and 6th graders wanted to have a part, so the entire 5th and 6th grade read the book.

A toughie ones. TLOR were really good. But so does Star Wars 4-6. I dont care about the 1-3. Its like they were made just to gain more money for George Lucas. I had to said its a tie. TLOR had one of the stunning special effect I had ever seen. But Star Wars visual effect just as amazing for 1977 movie at that time. Both had solid stories and characters.

Yes it can be a hard choice, and I agree that Episodes I ,II,and III could have been made just so George Lucas could make more money, and I have heard that The Lord Of The Rings movies had good special effects and Star Wars had awesome visual effects for movies made in the 1970's, and I agree I think both had solid stories ,along with awesome plot twists and really strong characters who were well thought out and and brought the movies too life.

as they're both fantasy movies I think I'd say Lord of the Rings. Everybody's been fantasizing about space and I think it's not original or something new anymore.
Im just amazed how Tolkien imagined a whole universe with different characters. It just means he's a genius and way beyond other people's thinking.
I mean just look, Gollum, Gandalf.. etc.. I just like how he portrayed the characters and the settings and the whole story. Hats off to him!

Yeah they are both fantasy movies and I agree everybody has been dreaming about space and it is losing its edge ,and yeah Tolkien is a genious for his ideas of a mythological world, filled with different characters, and it sounds like the plot is awesome and that the actors he got to portray the characters were an awesome choice .
