Dating doesn't mean they're your boyfriend or girlfriend.

Dating originally meant you are looking in to officially becoming a boyfriend or girlfriend.
Dating was originally designed to allow a couple to get know each other mom. The right type of date doesn't involve a movie but a lot of interaction. Like a game(sports or not), a walk, dinner(lunch or breakfast), shopping, and few other things. Unless you have 2 hours after the a movie to discuss what happened, a movie is a horrible idea.
I blame the divorce rate in america on stereotypical dates. I believe if people truly knew what a date was they'd all be happier when they're 50 and still married to the same person.
I know high school sweet hearts who just got married. They had a kid who is just about 10 months old now. The dad walked out one day because he felt she was being too pushy about what needed to be done in the house to protect the child. I've been talking to him and he said that she's not the same as she was in High School.
Most people aren't. Once you get a career your personality kinda really starts to set around then. If you're going to get engaged hold the engagement off until after college or until you're about 26.
The worst reason that people tend to "date" or get married for is specifically sex. I know 6 people who got married at an early age because they got knocked up. I know 4 of them are in the process of getting rid of the child and going their seperate ways. All 4 are married.
Sad to say even some of our parents have gotten married and their personalities always clashed inside the marriage. When you do the math you were probably born while your mother was between 17-21 years old. Meaning your parents jumped to it, when they should have waited.
