Getting your first library card..  |

 My older kids when they were in kindergarten had taken a trip in the Spring to the library to get their first library card.
I had always thought they went earlier than now, and thought that maybe they were no longer doing this, but today my 6 y/o came home with a permission sheet to go on the 23 of May..Now the last day of school is the 27, but they don't go on the 26 since it is Memorial day..So I hope they don't get rained out, I think they should have tried to do this sooner in case of bad weather..
So does your child/children get their first library card through a trip like this? Or did you get your through a trip through school? I already got the paper filled out and he is so excited...

1.  lilybug (6951) | 3 months ago |  My mom took me to the library to get my first library card. I took my son to get one when he was 4 years old. He mostly wanted to rent videos, but he enjoyed going at a young age.
The school that he goes to know has not done this. The high school and elementary school are in the same building. During the year and the summer the school library is open to the public. I got a card there last summer for him, so he could check out books still during the summer.

I have no children, but my home town's library and our school library were one in the same. So every Wednesday, we lined up and marched next door to the library. I was 10 feet away. We felt like big kids. We loved our weekly field trip. The librarian read to us and then we got to look at books. We had fun. I still visit my home town library even though I live in another town. This library here rots, but my old one rocks! Take care.
