Our School has a BREAKFAST CLUB.

That is a great program. I think that it is wonderful that the children get to eat breakfast and also know that it isn't charity, they are working for it.. This is a wonderful program, keep up the good work..

we have something silimiar to that at our school. we too live in a poorer area of the city with many city owned houses and our school (the principal is awesome!) many volunteer moms come in a cut up fruits/vegitables etc (most stuff is donated) and these snacks are handed out during the first recess to each classroom. it is a good program because there are some kids that dont eat at home because there is no food.

Hey now there's a good idea for a school program! I know that a lot of parents are very touchy about what they consider "handouts" so having the kids work for the food is very clever.

I've always believed that breakfast is very important and I think that many more schools should offer programs like this.

What a wonderful program! Here in the states, that wouldn't fly! Working for your breakfast is a foreign idea here and someone would say it violates the childrens' rights.

I think it's great that your community is helping to make sure those kids have the fuel they need to do well in school. Helping around the school will give them a sense of purpose, they will feel useful and won't feel ashamed that they get free food because they're earning it.

Do you have a lot of poverty there, that some families have little or no food at home?

My son's school has a breakfast program, but nothing like the one you have. Some kids get free or reduced breakfast others have to pay full price. I think it is a good idea what your school is doing.

That is such a good idea as there is nothing like that in my local area that I know of and it would probably make a huge difference to a lot of the children too. Also I do think it teaches children a very valuable lessn that they all must learn as by doing chores and other such things it teaches them on how to work as trams and also how to work in return for things they want but at the ame time helping theschool who is helping them. Great stuff!: )

We have free breakfast at some schools too, but we would not be allowed to ask the students to work for it! Instead, the money coes from taxes that adults pay! It is the poorest schools that have breakfasts, although most of the schools in our area now serve breakfasts! Children learn better when they eat a good breakfast!

We have a breakfast program at my son's school for a small fee and it's subsidised for those who are on low incomes.

THat's a great program. The school distric here has something very similar to it, however unfortunately we've got a lot of thugs who are ungreatful punks and take advantage of the program (taking the food when they dont really need it, and so having 2 breakfasts when some kids can't even get one). I'm thinking there will probably be some improvements, like issuing a card or putting the kids who need it on a list an then you can only be allowed in to take the food if you're on the list/have the card, etc.
