I'm not a big fan of Dolly's music, though she's clearly an accomplished and talented musical artist. And her career's probably been helped along by her unusually endowed physique.

But those things are irrelevant to the issue you raise.

If, as you say, Stearn has effectively slandered Dolly's reputation by manipulating her work to produce an unfounded, false and negative impression of her, then certainly IMO she has grounds for redress.

Surely Mr. Stearn can find better ways to make a living than by maliciously (or even negligently) damaging the reputation of other people?

I haven't really heard much of Howard Stern myself, but it seems a bit malicious for him to be modifying her performances/speech/whatever like that. I mean, I'm sure it's entertaining, but it still seems more like something that belongs on a poor quality flash video on youtube rather than being broadcast to the world.

I wonder if she'll find a way to make it into a lawsuit. Hmm... Though creative lawyers are hardly few & far between in Hollywood, I'm having a hard time figuring out how this could be seen as slander if he admits that the things he's broadcasting are not her actual words and have been manipulated..?

I'm not sure.
I guess that's why I'm not a lawyer. :P

I think Howard Stern is a pig and Ms. Parton should sue him and demand a public apology or the right to do the same thing to him--although I doubt she would, she has more class than that.

Such a blatant disregard of someone's reputation and feelings should be punished somehow.
