Sheep and Herb garden

Thank you for sharing your experience about harvest and sheep raising with us.I know a very little about these things.

That's a good idea, you should plan for an herb garden before the next slaughter and feed them herbs beforehand. What animals eat definitely affects the meat. My Grandpa used to have a special formula he made himself that he fed his steers that were to be our food for the year. It had some molasses type stuff in it, I remember it was some kind of red grain, and the meat was tender and delicious. He called it sweet feed.

Can you believe I've never had sheep? It's for sale in the stores as lamb chops but I can't stomach the thought of eating baby anything!

I have a lovely herb garden too, but believe me I don't let any animals near it!

I do feed herbs to the rabbits though, so I know what you mean about tasty meat. It's logical - good quality feed equals good quality meat. It's a shame so much mass produced meat doesn't take that into account.

When I was a child my mother bought a goat to help with the lawn and because we loved goats. We loved that goat and it did a great job helping with the lawn. We adored that goat until the day it ate my mother's rose bush. Not just one or two roses or just a part of the bush but the whole bush. My mom was furious with the goat. I don't really remember what happened to the goat but I do know we didn't have it for long after that and we never got another one.

So does it count as eating vegetables serving too?

that must be fun to own some sheep. my husband and i love the idea to have animals around us but unlike you we dont have the heart to eat them
anyway, i used to have a friend who raised cows and he told me that he grows herbs as well near them and boy he said it was a tasty meat and they even said that the milk is really great and it provides a tasty cheese as well.
i think some farmers do that in purpose coz they want to have a specific taste in their meat as well as in their cheese.
i can only buy the meat and cheese at the market i cannot have my animal be on my meal's list

Oh, that is a great story. When I was a kid my parents ran a dairy goat ranch and it was the job of us kids to go into the pasture and make sure there were no dandelions growing there because if the goats ate that, then the milk would taste bitter. I am glad to know it was just the opposite with your sheep. Sheep make very good eating, and after they ate your herbs I can see why you might especially delight in eating them!

They say you are what you eat! Our only experience with pigs was feeding them sweet feed we made for the horses. It was sweet and salty at the same time. Maybe I should rethink the height of my fence before I plant my herbs or resign them to containers on the porch which is being built sheep proof.

I Like Sheeps very much,they are very cute to see.I have brought one sheep at my home and in my areas there are several sheeps.Every day i take care about these sheeps and they eat more grass in gardens.Mostly sheep meat will be very tasty and good.I like it very much and once in a week i will eat sheep and goats.It gives more fat and keeps us very healthy.
