Can anyone recommend horror movies... | | I am looking for horror movies from the 1970's-1980's that are good, even B class movies that are interesting and have a twist ending. Any friends here can give me some idea of what would be good for me to buy regarding this category?

dasani (182) | 3 months ago | Hey friend that's a good list. I will read more on his reviews but just quickly browsing I have already found few horror movies I haven't seen from your link. Will check them out, 7 Faces of Dr. Lao and Shadow of the Vampire seem just what I'm interested in. Thanks for your sharing. Cheers;)

It had a great twist at the end. "Carrie","The Shining", "Cujo", "Ametyville Horror",or even "My Bloody Valentine"? That's all I can think of right now for old horror films...

dasani (182) | 3 months ago | Hi jovimom. Yea, you know I've heard about Happy Birthday To Me, been wanting to get it as I haven't seen it yet. So I'm definately going to keep that one in mind as soon as I find it. I've watched all the others you mentioned and just recently saw My Bloody Valentine --quite a thriller that was! I appreciate your reommendations.:)

It is actually a sequel to "when a stranger calls" (which I have not seen) but I have always loved that movie. ANd I am not referring to the one that was in the theaters a couple of yrs ago....it was really lame. ANd talk about a twist ending....you would like it if you like psychological thrillers.... If you are interested in "Psycho," "Texas Chainsaw," and "silence of the Lambs" you should get the documentary of Ed Gein. All of these main characters and other horrow films too have been inspired by this man. Just Google him....He's known as the Real American Psycho...It's definitely an interesting read if you are into horror films.

dasani (182) | 3 months ago | So nice of you to respond to my inquiry. You're right about 'When a Stranger Calls' the one from a couple years ago I've seen and it was pretty dumb. I haven't seen the sequel so will keep that in mind. 'Psycho,' 'Texas Chainsaw' and 'Silence of the Lamb' were mindblowing films! As for Ed Gein..good grief!--Unbelievable story!

My favorite slasher killer movie!=) You should also see Black Christmas (original NOT remake) and also the remake or original of The Hitcher (both were good). And you should check out the original and remake of When A Stranger Calls. they are really different from eachother, but both are good.

dasani (182) | 3 months ago | I'm happy to read your reply, nice of you to take time to offer your suggestions. Ah you have bought back some good memories of excellent films in the horror genre. I really like 'Black Christmas' the original which I've seen on Dvd few years ago -- was good bizarre story. I think it paved the way for alot of those later Jason films. 'The Hitcher' too was very tense as well as "Halloween.'

Another of my favourite films from this era is "Witchfinder General". This is loosely based on the true story of Matthew Hopkins, a con man who travelled from town to town during the English Civil War, claiming to be able to root out witches - he was actually just a sadist who tortured and arrested innocent people for the money. Stars Vincent Price and Ian Ogilvy. "Nightmare on Elm Street" is also good, if your tastes run to more graphic horror - just the first one, the sequels aren't worth bothering with in my view. "Dawn of the Dead" is another good one. The first sequel to "Night of the Living Dead", and heavily inspired by "I am Legend", the world is being overrun by zombies and a small group of people hide out in a shopping centre.
