Okay, I am not a violet person at all, but today I was out at Walmart and I heard all this hollering. Finally I was at the end of the isle and this daughter (I presume it was her daughter) was yelling at the top of her lungs in a mad way to this older lady of about 75 or there abouts. The older lady was trying to answer her back in a calm voice and the daughter about 50 years old was yelling at her from the top of her lungs.

I was set off! I was about to leave my cart and go yank that woman for yelling at that old lady in such a disrespectful way. She was saying things like "I told you already, you old bat!" She just went on. Anyway I told my daughter I'm going to tell that woman off for yelling at that woman. My daughter said, "Mama! You'll do no such thing!" and I said "That B!tch is yelling at her poor mama!".. any way I left it alone and didn't say anything to her.

Would you say anything you saw verbal abuse going on against an old person? I wanted to so bad, but my daughter said I could open up a can of worms myself for being so mad at her.

If this happened would you just go on about your shopping? Would it bother you?
Would you say anything?

I am not sure if I would have said anything directly to the woman but I would have found the manager or another employer there and told them to maybe step in or call the police out. I just hope that it is not worse after the older lady gets home, by that I mean I hope the woman don't abuse her in other ways.

That's what I told my daughter! I said I hoped she didn't have to live with that woman. There was no telling what she would get at home, if she would yell like that in public. She was so mean.

I have heard of staff at nursing homes treating the residents there the same mean ways all too often too. I am my fathers caregiver and he does tick me off to no ends a LOT and I laugh it off most times as he is old and his mind is slipping. So we both laff at a lot of things he does or does not do. I'd never treat my family like this woman did in public nor in private.

It would get me mad to see something like that happen. But I think that I wouldn't say anything. I see where your daughter is coming from because we don't know what the other person is capable of. She might go crazy and want to start a fight with you or something. But I would want to say something really badly too.

Well when we were checking out they were in another lane, and she was quiet then.. but I did want to say something. My daughter was the voice of reason though because I was just feeling it, you know? I was in react mode.

Yeah I know it was like the adrenaline made you want to do something. There are a bunch of times when I feel like that. And especially when their are mother's who are screaming at their children in the store. It really gets me pissed of during these kind of situations.

I would have probably have been the same as your Oreo.
In fact someone,if i was with anyone would probaby have had to stop me or at least tried.
i find myself being quite vocal in situations like this, but not necessarily anything anyone has said or done, more something just annoys me, like they have moved the milk rolleyesgoodness know what i would be like had i heard what you did.

It bothers me to no ends actually. A woman of that age talking and treating her mother like this says she has no morals what so ever. Guess what her parents taught her about respecting your elders never stuck with her. I'd have said something not very nice to her actually as I am a very outspoken person and voice my feelings etc even to starngers in situations along these lines.

I wanted to do more than say something to her. I wanted to jack slap her! I don't know if she heard me or not, but I was fussing about wanting to tell her off, and my daughter said to cool it before I got into trouble.

I'm so outspoken that when something like this occurs when I am with my wife she senses I am about to say or do something and she will smartly walk away. w00t

i don't blame u for being mad. that's no way to do. i have a soft spot for older people & kids. your daughter was probably right but w/my big mouth i would have probably said something & got the crap slapped out of me.

myLot reputation of 94/100. OreoCookie3 (13266)   ranked 1 out of 175 in walmart  4 months ago

I hear ya! That probably would have happened to me if I had said something directly to her. She was so loud and mean talking. I said to my daughter, "if you ever talked to me like that I would jack slap you".. and she said.. "Mom you know I would never do that."

That would really burn me up also. I hate to see any older person being mistreated. I would want to say something to that woman also but I do believe that I would have to bite my tongue also. If I seen her do more than verbally abuse the poor woman, I would definitely step in to stop it. that is right down rude.

Oh she was so mean! I do believe Karma will catch up with her too. My daughter has NEVER ever talked to me like that. It was awful and I wanted to shake that woman.

oooohhhhh! People like that make me so mad! I would have gone and gotten a manager to step in - that is abuse, and she has NO right to abuse anyone that way! You can guarantee if someone spoke to her like that she wouldn't put up with it!! Bullying someone who can't fight back is bullying, no matter what the victim's age!

Karma is going to come back and bite her in the butt - she will grow old too, and if she has children and they see how she treats the elderly they are likely to behave in that manner too!

Yeah, Lexa Karma will catch up to her big time! I've never seen anyone act that way out in public.. that is how shocking it was to me.

I think/feel that same way when I see mothers screaming at their kids or yelling at them hatefully or like they are stupid or something. I just want to go smack that mother to bits! No wonder kids these days have no respect for adults, the adults have none for them. They only learn what they are taught.

I work at a WalMart Supercenter 3rd shift and I see this kind of thing go on all the time it really annoys me for who do they think they are to even yell like that especially at a old woman? I wish I could just go over to them and just say " Can I help you what seems to be the problem here?" but unforunately I can't according to my job regulations. I have to find a manager and let them resolve the situatiuon. It seems by the time the management get over there to help there gone so what's the use. On my days off when I go there if need be and I hear this type of situation I want to go and say something but know I shouldn't for it's none of my buisness and should just stay out of it. I know one of these days I will and won't be able to stop myself for there is no need of it. It does make me very angry when this goes on.

Hello Oreo,

Very sad to see some form of elderly abuse... I would have said something.. I'm a very vocal person and if I see something that's so wrong, I always speak up. I like turning heads when I cause scenes wherever I go. LOL.. (Hey, it's something to do and what a better way to get things moving especially waiting for so long in a line.. LOL!) I would tell the crazy daughter to shut the F up and check with the elderly lady to make sure she's ok.. Then give a dirty look at the yeller. Maybe say few more bad words at her?
