 by 2013. says that he can both win in Iraq and withdraw I thought ALL the troops. isn't this a bit ambitious? do you think McCain made a mistake commiting to this? I could see this coming back to haunt him in the general.

2.  jormins (841) | 3 months ago |  It is very ironic as McCain has said in the past how foolish it is to set a guideline to leaving Iraq (hence his 100 years statement).
I think this was the Straight Talk Express taking another U-turn to make him sound more moderate as the Dem's will soon have their primary finished. He wants to make sure the Dem's can't stick him with that 100 years statement which might haunt him considering how unpopular Bush and the War is right now.

| 4. pghcityhall (672) | 3 months ago |  john mccain needs to not talk about things he doesn't know with 100 percent accuracy. a simple "we will be there till there is peace" would have been enough. the 2013 date first off is a baaad statement for the people that want to withdraw soon. second it only takes into account what the current situation is. things change by the day over ther.

That fantasy speech he gave the other day was really quite the fairy tale, wasn't it? He still hasn't described this elusive "victory" they all keep talking about in Iraq; how do we know when we've attained it? As my friend said here earlier, the Straight-Talk Express has made yet another U-turn. I think he's been off the track for quite some time now.
