I always had my son help pic up his toys, from the time he was old enough to understand and help, probably around 2. Because I started early, his room is usually neat now that he's 16, and I don't have problems with him leaving a mess everywhere.

When he got older he started doing dishes and taking the trash out. This was around age 7. Now, he does all of that and cleans his own bathroom and does his own laundry some of the time.

He is a good kid!

am i right

I think you are right, yes. You don't have to be harsh with them or anything. If you start at a young age, it becomes second nature for your children to help out. That's my take on it anyway.

Start from day one, why not, children will learn by seeing what you do, if you are lazy most like the child will be also.

If you are tidy, loving, forgiving and listen and guide with a kind hand, then more than like the child will also.

Start at day one,
