How much do you grocery? |
|
Do you buy food good for a month or do you just buy food for one meal? Do you buy ready to cook? or cooked foods already? or do you really buy stuff to make a complicated kind of recipe?

MGjhaud (3529) | 3 months ago | The only thing I can cook in my aparmtent is noodles, those ready-to-eat noodles you just have to pour some hot water. Anyway, if I'm tired of noodles I go for take-outs.

3. jonesy123 (957) | 3 months ago | I go once a week. I rarely buy ready to cook or already cooked stuff. I'm not a great cook and the recipes I use are not complicated, lol, but I rather make it fresh. The boxed stuff tastes, well, like box, lol.

MGjhaud (3529) | 3 months ago | I'm not allowed to cook inside my place so I only buy those ready to eat stuff.

4. dandj929 (314) | 3 months ago | I go about once a week. I try to make my list before hand but I usually don't follow it or I forget it all together. I check the stores sales before I go to see what they have. I like to try a new recipe each week and bake at least once a week so I enjoy making stuff from scratch. But I also buy at least one frozen pizza or ready made meal in case I just don't feel like cooking.

|
MGjhaud (3529) | 3 months ago | I, myself, make my own list when I do grocery. But I only buy those stuff that needs boiled water or those that's no need of anything to put like junkfoods hahaha..

5. Adelida2233 (789) | 3 months ago | I do some of everything you described. I have a set of staples that I buy every weekly shopping trip. Butter, Shredded Cheddar cheese, Angel Hair pasta(really thin spaghetti). Then I go bulk shopping about once ever 2 months or so. I actually get most of the stuff I need here and divide it up and freeze it or store it. I get shampoo and conditioner, batteries, printer cartridges, popcorn packets, spaghetti sauce, laundry detergent, cooking oil, spices, canned goods(like soup and tomatoes), and soft drinks. Then during the week, if I need something small, like salad stuff or milk I will get it on my way home from work. I don't really hate grocery shopping all that much, so it's not so much of a chore to go. The main concern now is gas. I need to cut down on my trips because I don't want to waste gas to get to the store and back. We eat a lot of the same things in about a 3 week cycle, so as long as I have all the ingredients for about 15-20 dishes, we are set for the month.

MGjhaud (3529) | 3 months ago | That's how my mother do grocery as well. The market from my parent's house is a bit far so she has to save gas and money. On my own, I have so many stores here around in my place so I do buy everyday, I don't cook so I'm used to ready-to-eat stuff.

Adelida2233 (789) | 3 months ago | I have a lot of stuff that requires cooking, but since my boyfriend can't cook, and I don't feel like is some of the time, we have a lot of microwavable stuff as well. I have a huge freezer that I keep everything in. Its just a lot easier to stock up all at one time and them just have to go get one thing from the store. I despise waiting around for other people in the checkout line. I've actually considered doing my huge shopping trip and checking out at the u-scan thingy but people would hate me, so I don't. I don't mind the actual shopping, its the line that kills me.

MGjhaud (3529) | 3 months ago | i mostly eat outside, food chains that has foods ready to serve. I also don't like waiting, it happens mostly in a grocery store.

6. coffeebreak (2251) | 3 months ago | All depends on your family size. It is just me so I dont' spend alot. I love to cook, but not just for me so I dont' do meals much anymore. Then again, I don't like frozen meals either. I am a "made from scratch" person. But while those money saving gurus used to always say "make a list of what you want for meals this week and then go to the store and buy ONLY what is on that list" and this was their way of "saving money". Stupid is as stupid does I guess, cause that is just totally ridiculous. What if you aren't having anything with chicken this week, but there on sale - for 99¢ a lb is boneless skinless chicken bre*ast? What a bargain! So you pass it up cause it is not on your list. Now next week, you decide you do want chicken, and go to the store nad this week it is back to regular price of $3.97 a lb. It's on your list this week, so you buy it. I have found to just have in your mind all the things you can make nad then go shopping and buy only what is on sale. Then go home and make your menus out of what you just bought. Common sense says that is the better way to save at the grocery store. Yes, you'll pick up things that aren't on sale, but for the bulk of what you usually get - buying only on sale is a sure fire way to spend less.

8. lkbooi (4546) | 3 months ago | I don’t have any fixed time to buy vegetable, meat or other groceries. My husband and I usually would go for marketing mostly during our leisure or we need to buy any stuff for our cooking urgently. We usually prefer to buy stuff and prepare our home made meals. We don’t have any difficulty for buying groceries as the market and hypermarkets are very near to our house. It takes us only four minutes or so to drive to the nearest one.

MGjhaud (3529) | 2 months ago | Good for you then. Food store or some 24-hour shop around my place takes a minute to reach so no problem. It's just that I can't cook inside my place so I buy ready made stuff or eat out.
