Tractor Trailer Overturns, Spilling Oreo Cookies on Highway

Police say a trailer loaded with 14 tons of Oreos overturned, spilling the cookies still in their plastic sleeves into the median and roadway.

The truck's driver was traveling from Chicago to Morris Monday when he fell asleep at the wheel and slammed into the median.

The boxes fell out of the trailer and they ripped open.

No charges have been filed, but both lanes of traffic remain closed while authorities removed the cookies.

Sounds good to me, wish i had been there with some milk.

If you would have been there, would you have grabbed some of the cookies for yourself? I am sure they weren't able to sell these cookies after the wreck, so I wonder if they let people have them. LOL

My first thought was well that is how the cookie crumbles*L* I bet there were a lot of jokes amoung the officers about eating the cookies. What a waste of cookies!!

Hey, that could have been a very good photo opportunity! Pictures and videos of people scooping up oreos off the road! Some people scramble for a little cornmeal.. others scramble for oreos.. why me Lord, why me? (Don't mind me, visons of people scooping up oreas got me going on a little irony was all.) happy

I'd be after that sweet white creme filling myself. I recall many years ago here in Minnesota we had a semi tanker with thousands of gallons of Maple Syrup overturn on the higways spilling its sticky sweet syrup all over. the fire department had like 5 trucks washing the higway down as there were swarms and swarms of bees and wasps sucking up the free sweet nectar so readily available to them.

Since they can't sell them now that they've been opened, they should've let the drivers clean it up--I bet those cookies would have been gone in a few minutes and there'd be plenty of smiles! lol

I know that was something; Oreos and that is my favorite cookie even though i don't eat them everyday. I know that was big mess to clean up Oreos; you can't tell me that who ever cleaned up that mess didn't take some of those Oreos home with them!!

I would have stopped the vehicle let the kids out and go for it. What a fun accident it would have been. I bet the kids in cars could have had it gone in minutes. lol

Kids my foot. If I was closer they'd have had to battle me to get there first. But then it's probably a good thing I'm not close enough as I would most likely eat the cookies. I love Oreos.......but sure don't need them. lol
