Senior class scavenger hunt ---everything must be stolen  email this discussion to a friend?

What kind of message are we sending our kids to students that we may teach or work with if we send them out to break teh law?

http://www.dailycamera.co...

the list inlcuded things like, kids bikes, menus, road signs you name it....

The complaint started as a noise complaint and police managed to nab 7 teenagers and ended up taking 2 hours to pick up everything that they had dropped and thrown from the cars, about 200 items.

It was at the police station that they produced a list of items and told them that it was associated with their senior class scavenger hunt, and that they were told everything had to be stolen.

They would not say who put them up to it.

Im sorry but this is wrong, and I think whoever put the kid up to doing this should be prosecuted as well.

What do you think of htis?

Prank or cruelty to the seniors?

I remember scavenger hunts from when I was younger. You know, back when you went around asking people you knew if they had something on the list. Not, stealing the stuff. I think that those kids need to fess up to who put them up to it and that person needs to be in trouble right along with them. That is so stupid.

Hi mooch! That is something that shouldn't be taught to kids. If they would have succeeded in their scavenger hunt, surely they will think that it is easy to steal things and will boost their confidence in a very destructive way. What kind of people would teach the younger generation such things. I remember that when I was in high school, the school administration is very strict in implementing rules regarding fraternities and sororities and whoever joined these organizations will be expelled. The reason behind these because at that time these organizations were notorious with their initiation rites similar to scavenger hunts. And our school wouldn't want its students to be a part of such. I do think that those behind the scavenger hunt should be prosecuted.

Well now.
In the U-nited States of 'merica, you can have yourself a good old time with this one.
I don't think there is anyone in that senior class that cannot be charged with may consecutive counts of theft, but also conspiracy to commit theft as well.
That might also include the principal and other associated staff members.
Oh yeah. This group is going down the lazy river for this one.
Dumping all of the stolen items is just stupid. I'm glad they were caught and I hope they all miss prom and grad celebrations over this act of utter stupidity.
This will be a life lesson to these boneheads.

Scavenger hunts should be items that are found and not stolen. Who ever put these kids up to this should be punished severly. I can remember scavenger hunts but they were innocent items and no one could get in trouble for the items on the list. We are teaching the kids that stealing is alright if it is done in fun. It is cruel to the seniors to have given them a list and told that the items had to be stolen. I hope they find out who was behind this and punish them.

Well I can see this from both angles - it may seem like harmless fun but they are stealing the property of other people and causing upset - I mean stealing street signs doesn't sound like a big deal but it could be and as for stealing a childs bike - how will that child feel when they go looking for their bike and it isn't there? I for one would be most upset if someone encouraged my son to do this! xxxxx

Well it didn't say who put them up to it, so I would hope it wasn't a school official. This is an example of crossing the line in fun..Kids and even adults have to look at both sides of having fun and not just with themselves..Like when they stoled the "for sale" sign out of the blind mans yard..What if that was their favorite grandfather or uncle this happened to..

Whenever pranks happen, the one pulling the prank should sit and think about whether or not this is right, for all...

Well someone there is certainly teaching the kids some bad ethics. Even in something as seemingly harmless as a scavenger hunt, stealing is wrong in every sense of the word. I really hope those kids lose the privilege of the graduation ceremony. It would serve them right. And I hope law enforcement metes out their punishment as well to set the example for everyone else.

As Seniors, these kids were old enough to know what they were doing is wrong. At that age, most of the time they make their own decisions. I don't think anyone really had to put them up to it. It was a childish prank. These kids knew what they were doing and should face the consequences for being brats.
