Books on CD, for kids!  |

|  I'm not an audio book person, but with my recent vacation, we bought a couple for the trip. They kept us awake and were very entertaining. While I was in a Barnes and Noble, I found a couple of books on CD for kids. A sales lady told me that they only had a couple of them, but what a great idea, right?! My Kate loves to sit and read, but if the book is too long, she gets impatient. Anyway, Kate's grandma bought her Suess's Oh The Places You Will Go (my most fav of all kids books) and The Lorax, so she will have great things to listen to at playtime, or bedtime for that matter.
Isn't books on CD a great idea for kids?

| |  not to sure about that as they dont really have to use eyes and brin to read like they should and might help her if she sets still long enough to hear it that would be my problem with grasnd daughter she is on the go all the time dont want to set down to long to learn the card things we have for her

| |  I cannot take to audio books for myself but Niamh adores them or at least she used to - she prefers to read her books herself now! When she was a bit younger she wound down in bed every night listening to another instalment of the Famous Five! I am sure kate will love it too! xxx

| | I agree that kids should stick to the good old fashioned basics. My little one reads everyday, and we read to her everyday. The books I chose for her are longer than her two year old attention span would allow her to sit for. I just brought my experiences as a old person, and understand that 'parenting' is a great challange now-a-days, with both spouses working and parents hardly get any time to devote with them. I remember, when I was in US for short period, one day I found my CD player missing. On enquiry from my DIL, I wa stold that it had been taken away by one of her friend, who requires every time a particular record to be played for his son's every feed, while they went to visit Desney's world. | |  When my grandkids were small I would read them books on the cassette tapes and send them the books to follow along. It was a way to keep in touch with them and entertain them from long distance. Ewe both enjoyed it.

| |  I don't know if my Olivia will take to this idea, but i am going to try it. I personally don't really care for them. I am a bookie, and love the feeling of the book in my hands. So i doubt if i would use them for myself.

| | You know, I love to read, but I get motion sickness if I don't watch the road. The books on CD for the trip were borrowed, and one of them I'd read before, so it turned out good.
Now, the kids books we got...I think I'm going to maybe play it at bedtime. Kate is just two, and she goes to bed to classical music from a kid's radio her uncle bought her. The book is a really positive one, check out the link I posted above. (Oh, the Place's You'll Go, is the title)
