How can i learn to dance?

A private tutor might help until you are comfortable in a reg class.

My question here is why do you really want to dance? As part of your exercise? Or it is just a feeling that you just want to dance? If you don't really want to attend the dance class which is the best way for you to learn I think it is time for you to buy a cd or any dvd that contains tutorials of dancing. Of course you can hire a personal instructor too if you can do so. But joining the dance class is a good start. My question is why do you have to fear to join to the dance classes wherein there were other people there? Aside from being introvert are you a kind of a person that is afraid to mingle with other people?

What type of dance? Ballroom? Hip Hop? Jazz? Ballet?

In ballroom, you can take a private lesson. Most of the others are classes, but privates can be available.

I say, just do it!! All beginners are new so you will be in the same boat as them. I think because you are a guy, you may feel you will have comments made.

do you have comcast? they have dancing lessons on demand. or on youtube. you could even pick up a book on the subject. do you have a family member who would be willing to teach you? it could be helpful with you being shy. it would be a bit of a confidence booster, if you felt good about yourself for dancing.
