Do you miss your kids when they're not near you? |
|
My daughter is 35 married and has two children. She and her husband are away right now to Las Vagas. I miss her so much. I see the children are fine and appear happy but I can see they miss their parents a lot. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the fact that I only have one child or simply because we are very close, but it just goes to show they are your children no matter the age. Do you miss your children when they're not near you?

2. cjgrooms (3194) | 2 years ago | I have a 28yr.old and 26yr.old daughters bot grown with 2 children of their own. my older girl lives about 2 miles from me and the other around 60miles away. I see or talk to them everyday. when i don't (esp. the younger one) i worry until i do. I miss them terribly. I also have a 12yr. and 13yr. old sons--this is the first day of summer vacation and i wish i was missing them! Really, even with all their bickering i worry if they are not at home so i can make sure they are alright. I think thats just a mother thing.

3. KarenO52 (2547) | 2 years ago | My sons, who are both in their 30's live a good 2 1/2 hour drive from my house. They usually come home for holidays, but I still miss them. It took years for me to change their bedrooms, I used to have everything the way it was when they lived here, and I had their pictures on the dressers, and I would go in and look at them. After about 10 years, I changed the rooms. My daughter lives close by, so I can see her more often, but she's so busy working and going to school that we don't have much time to spend together. I also have a nephew who I raised from the time he was 2 years old. He's just like one of my sons, and he lives so far away I only get to see him a couple of times a year. I talk to him on the phone usually at least once a week, but I miss him every day. I wish the whole family could live closer. I would be perfectly happy to have them all live with me in a huge house.

4. Irishfrndly65 (7490) | 2 years ago | My husband will be starting a new job and we were being told all the incentives and they said there would be company cruises. I immediately said, "I cannot go" they looked at me and I said, "what would we do with our little son?" He is only almost 4 and has NEVER slept away from us much less for days. I can't do it yet. LOL! I said, "maybe when he is 6 or so". The man said we COULD take him along possibly, that I could do, but if not....no way. We miss him when we go out on a date night together and we end up at a store, somewhere, looking at something for him. LOL! He's not spoiled but he's loved. We just miss him that's all.;) After all we waited 19 yrs for him. Ok, so he's just a wee bit spoiled. LOL! Overall he's a good little boy.

Grandmaof2 (4376) | 2 years ago | Really honestly you waited 19 years for a baby? Wow! Besides I'd rather see him spoiled rotten than abused. Thank You for your response and most of all for being a good parent. This job is never done and that's OK.

5. psyche49f (2200) | 2 years ago | Yup, very much so. In fact I'm dreading the day that my two kids will get married and leave us--an empty nest...I'd really feel so lonely. As of now I'd like to enjoy my kids as much as I can. The same goes with my husband...It's tough, but we just have to accept this small fact about life...

Grandmaof2 (4376) | 2 years ago | Yes I only had one child and she did not move out at a early age but it still broke my heart to see her leave the nest. She has done well for herself and I am very proud of her.

6. abroji (1639) | 2 years ago | I assume that most of the friends responded to this discussion are ladies. It is quite natural that the maternal bondage is stronger. Still I, a father of two daughters occasionally feel like I am missing my daughters and two lovely grand daughters who are away in Bangalore, which is more than 450 miles away. I cannot miss a single day without talking to them over the phone. Our children are always dear to us, no matter what age they are.

Grandmaof2 (4376) | 2 years ago | Wow Thank You for your response. It is nice to hear from a males side of their feelings. I think sometimes men get cheated out when these conversations are brought up. I know men that are very devoted fathers and in my country I really believe that because so many fathers have left the family and refuse to make child support it gives all men a bad reputation and that's not fair. There are also a lot of mothers that have not always done the right thing.

10. Polly1 (8499) | 2 years ago | Well my son, DIL and the 1 grandson live with me, when I go on vacation, I do miss them so much. My oldest daughter and grandkids always lived within walking distance to me, now they live about 40 minutes from me. I miss them so much, I feel that they live across the country from me. I like having my family close by. I never could understand how people can move across the country from family members, not me. I have 2 sisters that live in another state, I don't like it. I hope your daughter and SIL come back big winners.
