Obama has turned out to to be one very scary guy. I am a liberal Demo, but this  email this discussion to a friend?

myLot reputation of 65/100. chazh9 (161) 4 years ago

man is way over the top. He has announced that he intends to dismantle our nuclear weapons arsenal altogether, is naive enough to believe that he can convince the Russians to do the same, and wants to scrap the space weapons program that can intercept ICB's launched against us. This man must be smoking crack, for God's sake! What deterent would we have at all to keep our enemies like Korea and Iran from launching missles at us?! This is insanity!

He once gave a speech in which he referred to his grandmother as "a typical white woman". Can you imagine if McCain referred to him as "a typical black man"? McCain's political career would be over. Period. And yet Obama is like teflon! Why?

I am not a Republican. I do not want insane McCain to get to office either, as he will draw us deeper into war, but what does one do? Unless people wake up and realize that Obama is an un-American follower of a Black Theology Church that hates a God that does not hate white people, we will be in deep trouble. Obama has intimated that he would be willing to negotiate with militant Islamic radicals who hate Americans. Unless people wake up soon we will be in a heap of trouble. Hilary is our only hope it seems. But right now that is a long shot. If it ends up being McCain vs Obama, then I will not vote for the first time in my life.

Oh it is very scary, as America I feel holds the world together, decisions made by the American people affects the rest of the world, countries like mine-Australia depends on the US and UK, I also believe the very fact that more than one country having nuclear weapons is the very reson that may stop other countries from using them...OMG how scary is this...

myLot reputation of 65/100. chazh9 (161)  4 years ago

I know, lilac, I know. People have just got to come to their senses and see this man for what he is! I feel your fear as you feel mine. This is no game of politics anymore, it is the survival of the human race in the balance. I wish to retract one thing I said in my discussion, though. I will vote. I will vote for God. I will literally write Him in as a symbolic prayer while in the ballot booth. In God we Trust. For only He can save us now. Or perhaps the Demos will come to their senses and nominate Clinton.

Hi Chazh9,

You really sound like you are worked up about Obama...

Perhaps you could read a few articles... they might explain things to you..

Here is one... regarding the nuclear weapons issue... I will post it and then leave for awhile and answer some of your other points in following posts as it is past midnight and I really should get my sleep.

http://www.nytimes.com/20...

If you read it, you will note that Obama is not planning to unilaterally do anything.
He is talking about securing the nuclear weapons.
He is joining other statesmen in this and is not speaking on his own.

Even if he were... The goal of nuclear disarmament is one that has been with the majority of the population of the world since we first in error started the Arms Race.

Russia is having fiscal difficulties and is not as interested in maintaining and developing and storing the nuclear weapons as it used to be.
They would be willing to at least discuss reductions and would be more willing to scrap things if the United States entered into the dialogue in good faith with the expressed goal of disarmament...

It is also, rather illogical for us to be pushing for the disarmament of Korea, and for the restrictions against nuclear proliferation in other areas such as Iran, etc. without exhibiting a willingness to do the same... This is called leading and teaching through example and it is is more calculated than Naive.

myLot reputation of 65/100. chazh9 (161)  4 years ago

This isn't about losing a hand of poker here, WB. It is about us putting down our weapons and having the devil yell "psych!" and then push the damn button. It would be EXTREMELY naive. I may be liberal, but I am not stupid. We are talking about the most destructive power at the disposal of man. If only evil men have it, evil men will use it. Over and out. The leadership of Iran understands nothing but force. I think the strategy of converting it's leaders ideologically or teaching it how to be good by being good is an absurdly rediculous one. Sorry. Being a beautiful, peaceful, passive culture in this world only invites the brute to the slaughter it seems. Look at what happened to Tibet! She was a shining pearl of peace and respect for life, and She
was raped and slaughtered and overtaken mercilessly.

Even Christ said, "When I come back I return with a sword"--and heck, even though I am spiritually eclectic, I am not a Christian per se. I just see the Golden Thread of Truth in the Doctrines of all legitimate faiths. There is serious business afoot here, WB.

What about Obama's racially inconsistencies? What about his bent toward radical doctrines that presently threaten our culture? What about the poster that hangs in his headquarters? Do you know about these things? Check out the link that Kbourgerie posted. Very illuminating to be sure--and scary. This Black Theology that he has been studying is overtly racist and hate filled. There is no question about that. Obama is very dangerous.

Hi, It does seem that you are upset...
And I am sorry that you are...
I did say that I would return to post to deal with the other points...
Not sure if you did read...

http://www.nytimes.com/20...?

Perhaps if you took a deep breath and breathed it out slowly you would feel a little bit better and would be more able to process that article.

If you read the article it would not be that we had no defensive capabilities... We would still have some... The desire though for an eventual nuclear free world is a noble one... the application of anything like that though would be slow, gradual and most likely well thought out with the best minds of the world figuring out how to make it work. It is not going to be a unilateral thing. And it would take time.

I must admit that I have gotten so tired after the last eight years of fear mongering from Bush that I am rather immune to it now... And fed up with it too as all too often it was used to rob us of rights and liberties and to give the government a convenient excuse to do so.

I am 49 years old and did not grow up with the fear that you did regarding the nuclear weapons... There were no duck and cover drills for me other than to prepare me for the earthquakes here in California. perhaps if I had gone through what you went through, I would be more in fear.

I have looked at the facts... those who are elder statesmen during the cold war are wanting us to look at disarmament... And that is not a bad thing...
The fact that Obama is for this is a good thing and not a bad thing.

We at present have a flawed system which is like a person with MPD.
Let me elaborate:
On one hand we tell nation states that we will not tolerate them developing even one nuclear weapon while we one the other hand continue to build our stockpiles of them when we have more than enough to blow up the world twenty times over.

One one hand, we have the NATO and in the National Security Council, etc. and these and other organizations of nations which mostly are composed of nation states with nuclear capabilities.
As these nation states have a lot of power and prestige, they seem to lord it over the other nation states who do not have this capability creating in the developing nation states a feeling like an adolescent on steroids who is eager to get nuclear capabilities in order to belong to the big boys club and to get recognition and respect as finally arriving...

If the big boys like the United States and Russia were united in being committed to peaceful co-existance, would there be any race to develop more arms? There is a strong possibility that our build up of these weapons is what is causing them to want to have them too.

Certainly we cannot have much credibility with Iran or with the other nation states who we fear may attempt to get nuclear weapons without backing off from the nuclear weapons a bit ourselves.

I was wondering... Did you ever read Mark Twain's the Mouse That Roared and some of the other books that followed it? In that book, a small nation was not getting any attention and had a problem but was getting no respect. Then all of the sudden, it was thought that they had a bomb and suddenly every one wanted to recognize them and to deal with them...
It was as if they had arrived. I think it is a good book to read in order to understand what I am trying to say here.... And it is good reading too.

It was foolishness that we ever did join the Soviet Union and now Russia and the other nation states in this Arms Race... We felt compelled due to fears of each others capabilities... And most of these fears were in error... We over estimated their capabilities just as they over-estimated ours... And the people in our nations have suffered from the nuclear blasts from testing and from the pollution of our ground water, air, and land... And look how much money we have wasted...

There is the possibility that if we talk to the other nations, they may understand the foolishness of the whole nuclear arms race... We have learned something about it from our own experience... We wish to spare them some suffering... That is an honorable thing.

We are not safer because we have the weapons. They do not pose a real deterent. They instead incite the development of more weapons and tend to destabilize rather than stabilizing the world.

It is inaccurate to say about any nation that it "only understands force." We have not really tried negotiation. We at present have a leader who is more of an isolationist in his approach, not prone to listen well to others nor to communicate well... It is reasonable that such a person would fear negotiation as for him it would be like playing poker with low cards and no luck. (I, by the way, like playing a little poker with family and tend to win at it too...)

The truth is that we have the aces and we have the supportive cards necessary to win... We are far from the Country of Tibet... We will be united with other nation states... We will still have some nuclear capability... We though will be moving away from it.
And all others who hope to belong to the Big Boys Club will also have to move away from it in order to gain entry.

We will develop other ways of gaining respect and membership for the nation states... We will also spend less money on arming other nations and more money on giving education on sustainable development, conservation of resources, ways to eliminate hunger, ways to negotiate and develop peace circles, etc. This is very active. It is far from passive. It takes fierce determination and will.

I am remembering Ghandi, Martin Luther King and others who struggled to end oppression and who did so without ever raising their fists at another person... We remember their work much more than we remember that of those who fought with their fists... Words are so powerful...Love and compassion partnered by activity and restraint...

Understanding the motivations of people even on a nation state level has not been tried. We have often been rather like the diplomat in the Ugly American... not understanding sometimes, the cultures of the people we tend to label as enemies...
I am remembering now Nixon's words about China and as there were talks between our nations during his Administration... I remember him saying that never again should we fail to talk with any nation and that we should not isolate it as we did China. We have done similarly with Iran.

Iran had a history of at one time having those in it who wanted to form a democracy but we instead of doing that propped up a dicatorship to maintain what we then thought was the "stability" of the area. That dictatorship later fell and we got something else in its place that is not fully understood by us... We see someone making statements in his efforts to appease people but not really having much mojo to do much. We have a people with a history of being not Arabic and of having a very noble culture that predates a lot of others. It is not what it appears to be on the surface. Their use of language is like so much pigeon puffing... If you don't understand what I am meaning by that, then look sometimes at the male pigeons in a parking lot. They follow the smaller female pigeons around and try so hard to get their attention but the female pigeons are just pecking the ground trying to find food scraps... the male pigeons keep on puffing themselves up and trying to get bigger, and bigger. They follow the female pigeons everywhere hoping for a bit of attention...It is so difficult being ignored and being bad mouthed and not fitting in and wanting to be one of the big boys and not being able to. That is the position of Iran... or perhaps I should use a metaphor that you might understand more... It is like a teenager playing at being a Goth and talking a lot about death and destruction because it is scary and gets the adults upset.
That kid may be the nicest kid and appear to other adults as anything but... I believe that this is true about the core of Iran even though one of its leaders was as shocking as ozzy osbourne with his animal routine.

Let's deal with this one issue at a time as that way there will be some hope that some of the fear you have been experiencing will remit a little...

I freaking hate this! Ah I just wrote for a half hour to respond to this post, pressed post response and had it send me to the login page and of course the post has been lost. I am angry and impatient, so this probably will not be as detailed as the first.

Although I understand where you are coming from , and how one might hold this perspective I believe it to be flawed. The issue with the disarming and destroying our nuclear arsenal seems pretty simple. It is hard to hold international credibility, especially with countries we are chastising for developing nuclear technology, when we have not been adhering to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Act of 1978 that we have agreed to. We have no destroyed and disarmed our own nuclear weapons program.

The idea that we would be more vulnerable without nuclear weapons is semi-ridiculous . The amount of non-nuclear heavy payload weapons we hold in our arsenal is enough to send any country back to the stone age.

I do not know too much about the star wars program, so I will not comment too much about that. I have read however, that it isn't very practical, and wouldn't really work the way we imagine it to be. Maybe you can provide me with some information regarding this subject by replying to this post.

To say that Obama will negotiate with radical Islam militants is a gross exaggeration of what he has said, which is that he would meet with leaders without precondition if it was a choice that would further our cause. He has repeatedly said he would not do this on his own, but would seek the consult of his advising team and make that choice accordingly.

It is funny to me to see him condemned for wanting to speak with our enemies. We have seen the result of a military approach to our enemies over the past 8 years, and it has been counter-productive and unpopular. Further more our only success story has been a result of talks with north Korea. In the 60's JFK avoided nuclear war by having our administration pick up the phone and talk directly with Moscow. Talking with our enemies, keeping lines of communication open should not be portrayed as irresponsible and naive.

The Idea that Obama is un-American is sad. He has dedicated himself to public service in our great country for many, many years. Yes his church and pastor may seem radical to those who have not shared their particular cultural experience. Wright has a way of being vibrant and colorful, rubbing against the grate of peoples comfort levels, but sometimes we need to hear things that we do not want to hear. He is a preacher, he has preached that we must acknowledge and condemn our own sins before condemning casting stones at others. This is in the book he preaches from. Most of us do not agree with everything our religious figures preach, yet we sit in those pews week after week, seeking forgiveness, and the spirit of god.

I do not see eye to eye with Obama on many issues, along with the other candidates out there. I do not care if you do not vote for Obama, McCain, or Hillary. Your vote is your choice, but you might consider, if you do not find that the democratic or republican parties put forth a candidate you feel like voting for, voting for another party candidate. For example, a libertarian or green member. It would be a positive thing to contribute to weakening the Democratic and Republican strong hold on American government and politics. Cheers friend, and happy debating to you!

I hope that most Amerians will see the light and find out that sen. obama sould not be anywhere close to the oval office. Sen. Obama is a American hater and everyone who surounds himself with is a American hater. Therefore, are the american people willing to put this clown in charge of our national security. I am voting for Sen. Mccain at least he, wll try and protect the American people.

I understand your stand on this issue, but I am afraid McCain is too hawkish. We need to get out of wars that solve nothing, not get move over-invested in spread thin in additional military adventures that produce nothing. You cannot kill hatred with violence or force. The middle east is a culdron of hate that we cannot and should not try to resolve.

I with you on this.
I've been learning a lot about him, and it is scary. For example, he claims to be african american but he's half white, which he never bothers to mention, but also, he's 43.75% Arabic from his father and only 6.25% African Negro from his father. So he has to potential to be America's First Arabic president. Is it any wonder that he's willing to negotiate with militant Islamic radicals?
We WILL lose our country from within if he gets into the White House.
And McCain is just as bad, for different reasons, he will continue with the assaults on our freedoms, continue with the agenda Bush has put into play. Again, we are losing our country, what it has represented up until 2001 and the implementation of the Patriot Act.

Seriously, do we get exactly what we see no matter who is elected? We see what they show us and all the lobbiests push for changes that serve the companies they represent.

Who believes that if a Republican is nominated Roe v Wade will be overturned? These officials can't make these changes alone. They only have as much control as "We the people" allow. Don't vote. Allow anything or you can spend a lot of time finding out how your representatives are voting, not what their platforms are.

There are many things that we are not given access to. People panic with a hint and are manipulated like puppets. We don't even know it's happening. We think what they want us to think and we go where they drive us. The media is a very powerful tool.

This is amazing... there is something that we actually agree on.

Only a fool would think that we can eliminate nuclear weapons... the bell was rung when the discovery was first made, and it cannot be undone.

A lot of people laughed at Star Wars during the Reagan years... however the USSR wasn't laughing, because they knew it would be effective.

He also wants to basically dismantle our military... and he says this while we are fighting a war in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

The fact that Hamas and other terrorist groups support Obama is a very big red flag.

As for his change that he keeps talking about... he seemed to be borrowing heavily from the failed Carter years.

The "windfall profits tax" on the oil companies was done by Carter, and resulted in less oil being produced, high gas prices, fuel shortages, and long lines at the pumps.

That's the change he wants... he wants to go from the failed policies of the present and return to the failed policies of the past.

But hey... he talks pretty and the young ones like him, at least the one's not bitterly clinging to religion and guns in their desperation.

myLot reputation of 65/100. chazh9 (161)  4 years ago

I don't find it so amazing. I am an ecclectic thinker. I am a liberal (generally speaking), but I am not a "straight ticket" kind of person nor a party platform worshipper. I deal with one issue at a time and one candidate at a time, regardless of the party. I think it would benefit the country if more people were more like that. There would be a whole less deadlock and bs in congress if that were the case and then things would actually get done.

These are scary times. Maybe Hillary will pull thru. We've never had a female or "black" president (I dont even know if I consider Obama black) so people will probably go with what they know and vote for McCain. I guess I wont vote either.

Mrsjbelle, check out this article, which indicates that we've already HAD five black presidents: Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, Warren Harding and Calvin Coolidge.

http://www.geocities.com/cureworks1/5blkpres.htm

Andrew Jackson's brother was actually sold into slavery according to the article.

I found it a very interesting read. Other articles say much the same thing: http://www.bigissueground...

http://www.diversityinc.com/public/1461.cfm

None of them, however, point to there ever having been a woman president.

Nonetheless, Senator McCain would never have the libery of saying the phase "typical black man" in ANY context without destroying himself. Period. End of discussion. All of you think for your selfs,I'm careful to jump into this think tank, seeing your very savvy.
Barack Obama indeed is a very scary candidate and I wish the under thirty group and the black voter would truly do research on Obama.
Obama is coming off as being a black man to gain the black vote.
And he is coming off a cool dude to attack the younger voters.
He has attracted unfortunately both of these groups there fore he has done what he set out to do.
Christian parents do not subject their little treasures to the root of bitterness in the home or the church.
Teaching children to hate their country is a thing done by radical muslins,Mr& Mrs Obama have taken the lower road in training their two daughters.
God,plainly tells us in his world there will be wars and rumors of war.
The wars recorded in this world are pale compared to the wars this world will indeed see before the end of worlds history.
Memorial day I watched some coverage on our troops presently stationed in Iraq.
Five coaches had been in Iraq visiting with our troops, they had just returned home from Iraq.
They all five reported the troops had a united message they ask these five coaches to take back home with them.
The message was to be giving to George W. Bush thanking him for supporting the troops.
I realize some American people resent the present administration for what they call a failed policy.
Over and over our troops have send messages asking the American people to stand behind our president.
War is what it is and in all wars I do believe people on both sides have made mistakes, even grave mistakes.
I do not think it would be wise to throw the baby out with the bath water.
Barack Obama as we know is not a full blooded black person.
He was not raised in underprivileged conditions but claims he can relate to the hard working blue collar American.
I don't think the hard working blue collar voter has bought this hook, line and sinker.
As "The Last Wolf pointed out Barack Obama would be our very first Arabic president.
We would have a president that top officials of Hamas and the chief adviser of the Gaza strip approves of.
Seems odd to me radical muslins wants to assassinated the present people in office openly hating their guts.
So I take it Barack Obama beings he is favored by terrorist groups will not have that hate hanging over his head if he is elected president of the United States.
As if Obama is going to change terrorist and radial muslins minds.
The people in the middle east have been killing each other for 4,000 years,no matter who is in office this will not change in our lifetime.
It is just be on my understanding how any thinking voter would even consider taking a change of placing a muslin at heart in the oval office.
Obama can side step or he and his wife can two step but for many people they have to many connects to people that only want to blow Americans up.
Had Obama been honest and a American I could trust I would had voted for him if he was poke a dot.
The thought that Jeremiah Wright is just preaching how it is, truly is a grave mistake.
He is to be a man of God and if you refer back to how the true men of God spoke to a problem it was done in "brotherly love".
Jeremiah Wright is preaching from the root of bitterness which only serve to spread bitterness and hate.
I heard Jeremiah Wright speaking bad about rich people and white people in one of his sermons.
Jeremiah Wright talks down white rich people but dose he really dislike them as much as he preaches against them?
He don't seem to have real dislike for rich white people beings he had his multi million dollar house build in an exclusive white neighborhood.
Wright like the rich white people parks his very shiny expensive automobiles in a nice fancy garage at night.
I have no clue to how Jeremiah Wright became so wealthy after all his inter city church in Chicago is made up mostly of middle class poorer people.
Of course he has had Obama a member for twenty years and Oprah gave some of her dollars to the Trinity church the few years she attended.
Jeremiah Wright, can only serve one master either God or man,he can not serve both expecting good results,in the end.
As I said before Obama has far to many negatives to become the president of the United States.
I will vote for John McCain because I can trust he is a true blue American that would give his very life for his country.
John McCain son is presently serving in Iraq and his other son is serving his country in the Navy.
John McCain would not ask another's son or daughter to serve their country and not his own flesh and blood.
I do believe this speaks volumes about who John McCain really is.
I hear the talk he is only an extension of George W. Bush.
John McCain records prove the many times he has went up against George W. Bush.
McCain has stood with both democrats and republicans on so many different things over the years.
I'm not saying he is 100% but I do believe John McCain will stand up for American and fight to keep her safe when he has to.
Like Bush he will not be a president that puts his tail between his legs and runs.
John McCain understands foreign policy and he will talk with other leaders if certain conditions are meet,I believe this is the wise course of action.
I really think far as Iran it is only a matter of time American will knocking at their front door.
Thinking Russian and China is the mad man if Iran's buddies we may get beat with an ugly stick.
My concern is for the people of Iran same as with us we can not stop our government from waring on another country.
Perhaps this actually makes us all sitting ducks, and prayer is our only hope and safety.
We that will must remember not to forget it is God that is in control of this world.
God,in his word has made very plain he will come to seek them that seek to destroy the world.
The leaders of nations will not be the ones who destroy this world,God reserves that for him alone.
With that said we the people must educate ourself and vote for the best possibly candidate.
The democrat party has sure let Hillary Clinton down,It seems them behind the party do not want to see a Clinton in office.
Sad, the democrat party may be so blinded by Satan they will actually try to put in office a person wearing a mask if taken off it would be Satan himself,so to speak.
Hillary Clinton is the right choose for the democrats but it appears she can not beat Obama because she has been railroaded by the heads of the party and the super delegates.
Democrat women by the millions would need to cast their vote for Hillary Clinton.
Clinton is letting it be known through Bill Clinton she is being pushed around and picked on by Obama's camp.
It is not over until all has voted so we will just have to wait a little long to see who will be running against McCain.
If it should be Hillary Clinton I'm sure John McCain would have a bigger fight then he would have with Obama, beings Obama is running on hope, and even gets counties mixed up in his speech's.
If false promises and hope can beat John McCain,Barack Obama has it in the bag...then we all can turn around and kiss our butts good bye.
