Ok i am always hearing people saying that they made the perfect boiled egg, i love my egg with a perfectly cooked white and a nice runny yolk, for some reason, that doesn't happen and the yolk is soft on the top but hard on the bottom, and the white is sloppy on top and hard on the bottom, where am i going wrong?...i didn't realise till now that there must be an art to boiling eggs....how do you do yours to make the perfect boiled egg?

I want mine hard boiled.A book said that to make it so ,should allow 30 min boiling before you turn off the stove

WOW, 30 mins, that would turn it into a rock...LOL...no, i like mine with a yolk so i can dip my toast in...

I have an egg timer that I got in a charity shop, the bottom of the yolk is always a bit hard still though. I'd like to know how to get it so the white is cooked but the yolk is runny, since salmonella started though we're better off being safe and cooking them for a full 2 minutes. The yolk is mainly runny then it's just the bottom part that is hard.

yes you are right...salmonella is a dangerous thing if someone gets it....still i can never do the perfect egg....LOL....

I just stick the eggs in a pan of water and let them boil until the shells start to crack. I dump the hot water out, fill it with cold water and let them cool. Then I peel them and make them into deviled eggs or whatever else I want.

mine either come out too hard or too soft, i am yet to master them little beggers...i'll let you know when i get that perfect boiled egg...LOL...

I submerge my egss in water and bring them to a boil for about 15-20 mins. Maybe you dont let them boil long enough. That happened to me a few times, but it was only when I did not let them boil long enough.

wha i normally do is put them in water...bring to the boil then leave them for 3 minutes....sometimes they are ok, sometimes they are not....i think it depends on the size of the egg also....

I like my egg softly boiled so the yolk is still runny enough to dip my "soldiers" in! Just to clarify - "soldiers" is just a slice toast cut into strips so you can dip it in your egg.
ok - so I put my eggs in a pan with cold water and bring it to the boil. Let them boil for 3 minutes for s soft boiled egg, remove and run under a cold tap to stop them cooking. Perfection - most of the time!

LOL not quite but i am working on it...i gave you best response because i too love my soldiers dipped in my yolk and it made me laugh...LOL...i am yet to get an egg that's runny right the way through....enjoy your day....x
