Children wearing make-up.....Do you agree or disagree?? |
|
I am sitting here watching Animal Planet Miami Cops & they are interviewing a family who has adopted a dog. They interveiwed this little girl who is 7 years old & I was shocked to see that she had on not only lipstick but blue eye shadow as well. SEVEN YEARS OLD!! Goodness I wasn't even allowed to wear make-up until I was 14 years old & even then I was only allowed to wear lipstick. Do you agree that it's okay for children that young to wear make-up or do you disagree?

photographygirl73 (1982) | 2 years ago | Yes I see nothing wrong with that. Someday your daughter will thank you if she hasn't already. Besides the fact that make-up ruins your skin it does make you look older then what you actually are which can be dangerous in our day & age. looks like you doing real well with your daughter. More mothers should be as cautious as concerned as you. I am thankful now that my Mother was the same way with us.

You wonder why there are so many pedifiles out there targeting young girls and boys. Well putting all that make up on them will just make them a larger target making people think there is maturity when there really is just a little girl with make up. Parents shouldn't let childern dress or put make up on until they are in late teen years.

5. aplaza (511) | 2 years ago | I think it's a crime that she was allowed to wear blue eyeshadow. That has been out of fashion for quite a while and I don't think that any makeup artists are wanting to get it back into fashion. Here in Holland they actually make jokes about blue eyeshadow being for old ladies. You see the Queen tends to wear it often and she is getting on in years. Okay enough joking around. Seriously though I wonder if it was something that the parents allowed or that the network wanted? Isn't it possible that the makeup artist for that show spruced everybody up and just played barbie doll with the kid? You didn't mention it in your post but I wonder if you sent them a letter about your concerns?

photographygirl73 (1982) | 2 years ago | I hadn't thought of that but I should have done just that. Even if they just did it for the interview I still think she was way too young to be wearing that much make-up, especially at 7 years old. Thanks for the comment or & I agree blue eyeshadow is for old ladies LOL.

7. sisterjinx (937) | 2 years ago | at 7? Oh I don't think so. I wasn't allowed to wear makeup until I was 14 either and I agree with my mother on that decision. My daughter was not allowed to wear makeup as a child either. I think makeup is specifically meant to make a girl look older and/or sexy or appealing and there is NO reason why a child that age needs to look older or sexy.

photographygirl73 (1982) | 2 years ago | My thoughts exactly. I am thankful my Mother set up such rules as that reguarding make-up. It kept me out of a world of trouble I am sure. Even now when I am an adult & I can wear make-up if I so choose I still don't wear a lot of make-up. In fact my husband says I look pretty without it. I do wear lipstick & thats more then enough for me.

| 8. alysya (80) | 2 years ago | well let me tll you my story.. you might not believe it but .. i'm fond of wearing make up.. evrytime i go out to work, or just simply go out for a walk.. I always like to have a make up on.. so my 1 1/2 year old baby girl see me all the time puuting my make up on.. believe it or not i often caught he opening my bag and putiing my lipstick to her cheeks to her browse.. hehehee.. so i tried putting some non-allergenic make up on her one time and put a good dress on her.. she excitedly walked infront of the mirror smiling. then everytime we go out she always likes to have a lipstick and an eyeshadow on.. hehehe... she feels she's so beautiful wearing it. going back to the question .. for me.. a 7 year old wearing a makeup is just normal and kinda funny.. because maybe she adopts to a person she likes. she admires or maybe she sees it on tv.. it's part of growing up.and is called identification.. she identifies to what she sees... and you should be proud she likes make up than wearing a cap and holding a toy gun (LOL)

9. martindale (115) | 2 years ago | I don't like to see children trying to look like adults. Not only is it bad for their skin, it teaches them that they are not pretty enough just as they are. I was raised in a family that didn't believe in make-up at all (reilgion),and I was rebellious and sneaky. With my girls, they started a bit younger than I like 11 for the youngest and 12 for the oldest, but all they wear is eyeliner and every now and then very light shadow. Never do they wear concealer except for a pimple and never do they wear mascara or lipstick, maybe chapstick or lip gloss. They are both convinced that it will mess up their skin and they both like their freckles, the opposite of the way I was.

photographygirl73 (1982) | 2 years ago | It can ruin your skin. I have read that the oils from the make-up causes very bad acene, so your girls are very smart to not want to wear any.

martindale (115) | 2 years ago | Smart, maybe. I think it's the luck of the draw. I try not to push too hard and cause rebellion. So far, so good.
