Will a new President really change things for the better? |
|
They always SAY that they will. We have heard so many promises that it all seems like one big fairy tale. I HATE the direction that our country has taken over the past eight years. Now that so many things are coming to light about our conduct around the world, it's clear why people hate us. I can't say that I blame them but I am timidly hopeful that a new President - who ever it may be -will work to change that. Do you believe what the candidates are promising?

RebeccaLynn (818) | 2 years ago | Learn2earn, I know this is all foretold in the Bible. I am a christian too. I'm just hoping for a reprieve before it hits the fan full force. I do believe America will turn back to Christ. But I also believe that we are going to seriously get our butts kicked before that happens. Not to offend any non-christians, that's just my own opinion and I'm entitled to it. However, We are currently doing everything in our power to make some powerful enemies angry with us. We all want a world that is safe for our children to grow up in. It's mine that I'm thinking of when I look at the state of this world. I would like to hope that the next President will work to turn down the fire before it gets out of control.

john_galt44 (182) | 2 years ago | learn2earn is close to the truth. The president has only limited ability to change things and it takes time for change to occur, especially if the president is not of thee same party as the majority of the congress. The senate and house have been given a pass by the press and we the voters. This assemblage of lifetime politicians who spend every day working to get re-elected are a far more influential and dangerous group. The farm bill and proposed energy bill are two perfect examples of how these egotistical talking heads love to spend our money to buttress their positions in their home districts. If we ever hope to overcome the power of government over the voters, we had better change our thinking locally. That pork-barrel project that your local senator or congressman delivered to you was probably not in the best interest of thr country as a whole. Write them or ask them in person if the pork will enlarge the debt or lead to more defecit spending. Dinosaurs like Reed, Pelosi, and Kennedy (to name just a few) are happy to drive the nation as a whole into a mess like we have now simply to be famous and be re-elected for life. Wouldn't it be nice if a normal person cold run for office?

| 2. s2kowner (4) | 2 years ago | well...it's kind of hard to say because presidents do tend to promise thing that they know they can't do. this country is going downhill but it is not for one particular reason. a recession is somewhat normal, but what is killing everybody is gas prices. they promise to do this and that but they end up doing something else. i am not saying that it is bad but the voters are actually looking forward to a change which was promised by the candidates. i mean if the candidates, the ones that are going to lead our nation, cannot be honest, than who can we depend on

RebeccaLynn (818) | 2 years ago | That's the problem. I haven't seen an honest one yet. Everyone of them has been caught in a lie. It's dis- heartening.

3. lilwonders123 (1252) | 2 years ago | Well I personally do not believe what they say. All of them are willing to lie, cheat and steal to get the job. Politicans by nature are not turstworthy people. That being said, I do not like any of the front runners. I do not trust them. I do not see any of them as capable or willing to fix the problems we have.

RebeccaLynn (818) | 2 years ago | Lilwonders, Looks like were sinking in the same boat. I don't like any of them either and I certainly don't trust any of them. I'm curious as to how fast the next president will forget his/her promises.
