How are Retailers out there going to make it with the economy the way it is?

I personaly work In the Jewelery market of retail. I have seen the ups and downs and drop offs in sales in the last year. I do have to say after the stimulus check all came out things have been better. I happen to work for a retail jeweler that is owned by the richest man in the world and parent company Burkshire and Halfaway Co. I'm not to worried about my self but, what about others. I see that other retail jewelers and also other retail clothing etc.. all are feeling the economic crunch. I'm just wondering how long until we all start seeing companys fold and go under? If things keep going the way they are surtain companies will have a hard time to even keep the doors open. I feel sorry for the fokes that make just over minimum wadge and can hardly aford to live now that gas is on the rise. I know the economy has always had its ups and downs and im not saying it will not go up again. But, will it go back up in time before its to late for some of these companies and the go under. What do you think about this? How does it make you Feel? What do you think could be done to stop or change it?
