Take that Wal-Mart!

Unfortunately, Wal-mart has the best variaty around me when it comes to produce. The grocery stores around me are poor at best at freshness and selection. I hate it that I have to shop there, but driving further into the city for a better option doesn't fit into my everyday schedule. I wish I could.

And in some walmarts they will monitor how much you return and if you start returning stuff to much they will deny your return, which I think is a crock, I think its to help prevent some big ticket item returns, and I truly find it annoying if any store does that but some truly try to cut down, and then they sometimes try to return for the last price marked ...

My best friend found an average price the same or higher in Walmart, only advertising items are low for week or so...

Y'know, some people don't have credit cards or a car to go to another town to shop. So yes, some people have to shop there no matter what you may believe.

I live in an area where I don't have a lot of choices when it comes to food. I can either drive a few miles farther and spend more time and money, or I can go to wal-mart. That's my choice, sure. But if I drive 35 minutes to the grocery store I would rather shop at, and 35 minutes back, I still have to stop at Traget on the way to get the things not available at the grocery store. I make the choice to shop at Wal-mart, even though I dispise it, because it gives me more time with my family and saves me money, because I didn't drive all over town to get what I needed. What I wish for is a better alternative, like a Target with groceries, or a Harris Teeter or Whole Foods next door.

In DC, I ordered groceries online, but always had issue with produce. How does some warehouse worker know how hard I like my oranges, or how red I like my apples? I can't give Wal-mart the highest marks for quality produce, but they have a larger selection than anyone else around me, and I get to touch and feel ever fruit and veggie I spend my money on.

In the the long run, Wal-mart may have terrible business practices, and horid service, but for now, its the right choice for my family. I hate it, but I do it.

WalMart's practices are not the best, to be sure. I won't condone the attitudes of a lot of their employees, either. Their employees are treated pretty nasty, from the corporate headquarters right on down to the managers, but that doesn't give them the "right" to treat patrons the same way! If you work with the public, you should treat them as you would want to be treated.

BUT, if you have a complaint, you can go to their corporate website and file it there.

I did that once because the WalMart where I used to shop was constantly filling the aisles with stacked merchandise, sometimes even blocking the emergency exits! It was a filthy store with trash constantly on the floor, shopping carts filled with returned merchandise to be put back on the shelves just sitting there, unattended, those tall, rolling ladders they used to change signs always open and blocking aisles, etc. I wouldn't let my dog use their bathroom; it was always filthy. I went home, got my camera, came back and took photos of all of this stuff and emailed them right to corporate headquarters. (You have to know the store number to file with the complaint, too.)

Guess what? Not a week later the entire store was clean as a whistle! Of course, it got bad again later, but not nearly as bad as it had been.

I'd file a complaint next time you experience something like that. You just have to back it up with some kind of proof. There is nothing illegal about taking photos in their store and they can't throw you out if you try it. (No one even tried to stop me.)

Give it a shot. What do you have to lose except getting angry every time you shop there?

Good for you, more people should be like you and SHOW the head store managers and corporate offices what is going on. Like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. They can however ask you to leave if you are taking pictures inside their store as even though it is open to the public any business is private property. I have been asked to stop taking pictures before when I was in a fabric store taking pictures of somec craft items I wanted to try making. Oh well!
Complainig aka Constructive Critism is actually appreciated by many big chainstore managers and the corporate offices. Otherwise, how will they know as they ccn't be everywhere at all times.

I hate those stupid edited versions too. I think that if they don't want to sell swear words, they shouldn't sell that artist at all, it is thier choice. I generally do not buy music there for that reason, but when I popped in my new CD and heard her say sh!t, I giggled a little.

I'm confused...censorship? I know you're all in the US so why are things censored where you live? Pretty much all of my CD's came from Walmart and not a single one had anything censored out...not even the really raunchy Prince songs or the Eminem...yeah I have eclectic taste in music.

Well, I don't know then...I guess I'll have to dig one out and really listen, maybe compare the lyrics to other versions. I've really never noticed a censored one and am so sure that mine have the bad swear words...I could be wrong, they haven't all come from Walmart so maybe it's just the non Walmart ones I'm thinking of. *shrugs*
