What's the best advice your grandmother ever gave you?

me and my grand mom on my mom's side were so close. and she already gave me so many pieces of advice that sometimes help me a lot.

the one that I remembered was "prove to them that you're different.."..as no one in my relatives haven't finish their college yet, and all of my cousins got pregnant and never pursue their studies anymore.some people think that, I'll be just like them..but I proved them wrong.. and now, that I've already finish my studies, I've already prove to them that I am different and shouldn't compare to them..

The best advice my grandma gave me was about courage and independence. According to her, a woman needs to be courageous in all aspects of life but most importantly, in every trial and tribulation. This is because in every hardship a woman experience, it is only she herself who knows and understand the depths of the circumstances surrounding the problem..she herself can solve it or remedy whatever pain she is experiencing. Other people can just give advices but it is up to her to take it or leave it depending on her wisdom.


I just miss my grandma so much because I was very close to her. When she passed away it was so difficult for me, I was not there by her side because I attended a two-month training for my company.

Im so sorry I was not able to meet m grandmother. Perhaps my mother married late so I was not able to see my grandmother on both sides. But like my mother she will advice me to study and take care of myself. My mother did not reach higher education but she sees to it that we finished our studies except for those who married young. How I wish I was able to see my grandmother.

My Gran is wonderful too beauty! She adopted and raised me after my mum died when I was 2! I think the best advice she ever gave me was if I didn't have anything nice or constructive to say then keep my mouth firmly closed! I try so hard to follow that advice throughout my life! My gran is 84 now and still looking after me! xxx

You're lucky you're close with your grandmother. I was not close with three of my grandmothers. I only have one left now, my step grandmother. They were all nice grandmothers, and I know they love me. But we never really had any deep conversation or anything I can remember. But my step grandmother cooks the best lamb curry ever!

Always keep a dime in your bra.....that's what my gramma told me. You kept it to make a phone call in an emergency, this was way before the days of the cell phone. So, I guess I could keep my cell phone in my bra.

My gramma was a real practical lady, and taught me how to make preserves, and bread, pies, and how to take care of yourself.

To those who still have their grammas with them, cherish them, because you will miss them when they're gone.
