Can Obama unite the democratic party? |
| |
| Ok I have to wonder can Obama really unite the democratic party, ASSUMING Hillary quits? He has 5 months from today to unite the voters that didn't trust him many female voters, and many others that have not truseted him throughout the race. I'm wondering if it can really be done, I know there are voters who voted for Hillary that are die hard, and I bet that some do a write in on the campaign It was said she was meeting with VP candidates giving wonder to ws seh going to run as an independent candidate. I'm worried that this unification is coming too late, and I think if it was going to happen it should have happened after the Illinois and N.C primary, I know Hillary was still hopeful then but it was said at that time the math wasn't there. So can Obama unite the DNC again Will Hillary and Bill campaign for Obama? Or do you think he will stay as far away from them as possible? Mooch | | | | | |

| | I think that this race between these two canidates have been the best I know I have ever seen and maybe in history. No matter who would have one the question would still be can they unite the party. It's a big day in history to have a black nominee and it would have been just as big to have had a women nominee. And I hate to sound like everyone else but I truley believe that Obama would have a easier time trying to unite the party if he does elect Hilary and VP. He would also stand a better chance of being the president if he was to do so. I know it would be hard for him to dominate her as VP because they have been running against each other all this time but he really wants to unite the party than he should do it. I think it would be good for america to have a black president and a women some where in the picture so we can move on with all the hate. Might as well get them both out the way at the same time. At least he knows Hilary won't give up or lay down she stayed in the race until the end. | | | | | | |

| | That is probably one of the main discussions for today and I do belong that the democratic party will be united. Although I beleive Hillary has good intentions but as leader in the party she should help unify it if she is a true democratand then help in every effort to give the people what they need whether it be as anadvisor or a member of the cabinet but she should still support the party for the people if not for that reason. She is a very good decision maker but in her quest to make history she have made a few bad calls for one the debt that she created for herself how is she going tohelp balance the budget if she can't budget her on campaign. | | | | | | |

| | I've heard so much I don't even know. I heard that Hillary would support McCain.. and then I heard that she would support Obama. I think Obama and Hillary truly do have a friendship and respect for one another and this is just politics.. so maybe she will support him.. who knows? One hears so much from all sources here on the Internet and on TV and in the general public... there is just no telling. | | | | | | |

| | Well, Cookie, I sure won't claim to have the capability to get into Hillary's mind but I can pretty much bet the ranch that she won't be supporting McCain. Where did you hear that one? I thinkyou're very right about Hillary and Obama having a friendship and respect for one another and I also believe Hillary and McCain genuinely like and respect one another. One thing I've heard quite a few times through the years and especially during this long campaign is that the Senate is a very friendly and close-knit group despite party differences and I believe that, it's often evident when you see two or more Senators appear together on talk shows. If you noticed during the Democratic debates where there were four current Senators and one former Senator, there was a definite "kinship" among them even if they were arguing a point fiercely. However, given all of that, I've heard McCain actually dislikes Obama kind of like a grumpy old man would dislike an upstart "youngster"...OOPS, that's exactly what it is, isn't it...lol. Wow, I trailed off here, didn't I? Here's my point which I took forever to get to - I do believe Hillary will support Obama and I believe both she and Bill will throw themselves wholeheartedly into his campaign as much as he wants them to. However, I WON'T bet the ranch on this! Annie | | | |

| | Who knows? I guess that I hope so. They is so much separation in the world these days. We need someone who can reunite people. Familes and all have become separated due to the economy and the changes that we are going through in life. We need someone who can bring us all back together and bring back the good traditions that America used to be known for. | | | | | | |

| | well I am a democrat and I have absolutely no intention of ever feeling like Obama is a man that I can trust to be our next president. I am so torn at this point and believe that I either wont vote at all, will vote for mccain, or will write in a candidate just so I still use my right to vote. Obama, in my opinion, will not be able to sway other voters who feel as strongly as I do that he is a threat to our middle America. I will not stand behind him as our presidential nominee and I know many others who feel the same. I thought it was quite low of him to announce his selection advising committee for V.P. It should be pretty easy..Hillary..IMO that is the only way for him to unite the party. and I am proud that she didnt give up and gave a good fight. | | | | | | |

| | He may never get the feminist vote. But he will get the other Democratic votes. He will show himself to be a deadly dueller in debates with McCain. He will win over most of the voters. I wish I could be so exciting an orator as he is. He has the ability to capture imagination in those who listen to him objectively. And as long as Billary will try to play nice, he can do it. They are of course the problem for him... | | | | | | |

| | did you watch any of the debates that Obama was in? he sucked. he will only do well in debates with McCain because McCain sucks more not because he is a good speaker. he could barely answer the questions on the fly and the questions will get tougher. and you are right he wont get my feminist vote. | | | |

| | That's odd. I saw things differently. I thought he answered well and was measured and chose words carefully. And since you only have two choices there, you are going to be in a bad way. You don't strike me as one who would simply not vote rather than vote for McCain. If you aren't voting for Obama who at least supports a feminist agenda, who are you voting for? Billary is out. | | | |
