What did they do for water? | | I am referring to the Genesis again, and to the story of Joseph in Egypt. Pharoah was so pleased with Joseph because of his ability to interpret dreams, and he gave Joseph a high position. During the seven years of plenty, Joseph collected from the Egyptian citizens a fifth of their produce and stored it in gigantic granaries. Then came seven years of famine, and he sold the same grain to the Egyptians and to the people of surrounding regions. Right now, let us not worry about the hardheartedness of Joseph to SELL food to the suffering Egyptians (when he had collected the same grain from them without paying for it) Later, when their money was over, he took their land, and finally made them slaves. I guess this was ok for Joseph to do because he was a Biblical hero and a believer of God. Anyway, let us not worry about moral issues right now. The burning question is this. Seven years of famine means all the rivers, lakes, and so on dry up. What did they do for water? There is no mention made of water at all!! Has anybody thought about this? Has any explanation been given to this? Or do a few verses deal with this problem and have I missed it? I will be glad to read your views on this.

Humans and animals die. Then the Govts are not severe with the famine stricken people, the poor get rationed food. BUt the way Joseph was selling food grains frightened me. He amassed wealth. What is it? WE can say thatthe famine was only of the foodgrains still to grow foodgrains water is required. How did they fail? Sory I am not answering you for I too want explanation

Whichever, even if it is drought, it just means no rain. In such times, in those days, I think people try to dig deep to find new source of underground water when their wells dry up. If the rivers are not dried up, those are another source. Worse, sea water... we know how much of Earth is really sea.
