Judge jailed 46 people gets fired  

I am glad that he got fired. Displays of rage, such as his, are unacceptable, and he got what he deserves. I wonder if he regrets it now, that he does not have a job. If he does, good on him. If he's pi$$ed off that he has to pay for his actions, GOOD!!! Now he gets a taste of how everyone else feels, only difference is unlike them, HE DESERVES IT!

No it is not understandable. I find it to be unnacceptable for a person working with criminal justice to abuse his/her power.

Good grief! What a mess. Jailing everyone in the courtroom was, in my mind, certainly the wrong thing to do. I don't quite understand why he didn't just clear the courtroom. But firing him seems a little harsh? Maybe a suspension without pay? I don't know what should have been done. I know if I had been jailed for that, though, I would have been fit to be tied.

I would be livid as well. I would be pissed at the judge, but I would also be pissed at the person who refused to own up to having the cell phone that rang.

I would be furious if that was me being jailed for something like that and I was innocent. If I had my cell phone on me it would have been shut off in a place like that or if I had it and it was shut off I would tell the judge to be my guest and check my last call and see what time it was that it came in. If I had my cell phone with me and forgot to turn it off I would have fessed up and admitted it was me and my mistake. I do think the judge was in the wrong to do that and glad he was fired.

I don't think that the judge should have been fired but it had to have been a really bad day in court for him to do that. The person with the cell phone knew to cut it off or put it on vibrate. Also that person could have just said it was my phone. Excuse me for not cutting it off. That was rude; that's just like when you in church; the preacher doesn't want to hear a phone ringing in the middle of a cermon. The judge should get his job back.

It reminds me my days in school. Teacher always made everyone suspended for one person mistake.
I wish she was fired when she abused her position....

I actually think that it is really hilarious, it is like a father taking his children to task! I mean how childish for the one whose phone it was not to own up to it.

Plus it is really ignorant to have your phone on when in a place like that, the least they could have done is put it on vibrate, that is what I do.

I would not have been happy about going to prison, but I can see why he got upset I think it is a bit of a shame he got sacked.

I think I remember this story some time ago. I can understand why he was frustrated and I would have been very angry if that happened in my courtroom. But, I think jailing people, though it was in his power, was overkill. Yes, it's contempt of court, but no, it wasn't the right thing to do. It showed bad judgment and a trigger finger to put people in jail. What he should have done was stop the proceedings, had everyone's bag searched and kicked everyone out of the courtroom if they couldn't find the phone.

I don't know if I would want someone who was that quick to anger and throw people in jail as a judge.

out of work.it could be a while before he gets another
position as judge again. why did he not track down the cell
phone owner in the first place, surely he had someone who
could have searched for the peson whose phone was ringing?
