Salted apples?????

I have known people here in the U.S. to salt apples, melon, carrot sticks, celery sticks, cucumber slices, etc. I personally find it disgusting. Yeah, lets eat fruits and veggies, but then pile on salt and completely lose the point of doing something good for the body. I personally like my fruit just as it is, and my vegetable either unadulterated or with a little homemade low fat dip.

Its probably not good for your health, but it does taste pretty good. I like it from time to time that way.
I also sometimes like salt on my watermelon and on cantolope. It's kinda like a salty/sugary craving all in one. FOr some reason the taste combination is really good!

We don't have this eating habit. In the past my grandma would put some salt on the watermelon and she said it's tasteful and healthier. I don't like it. As it seems a little strange. It is the same for me to think putting the salt on the apple:)

Wow, I have never heard anyone eating salted apples before must be another fad emerging.

I personally think it is gross but I have seen a lot of people do it. I live mine covered in caramel but that isn't really any more healthy then the salt but I think it makes more sense.

I have never had salt on an apple. I have had sugar on tomatoes and salt on fresh canatloupe, but never salt on fresh apples. It might be interesting to try.

A little salt never hurt, the apple's flavor comes out better with a little salt. To make it stay fresh, sprinkle a little lemon juice on it.

I like to put salt when eating apples but only the green ones. It taste nice. My mother used to put salt on apples to avoid the apples from getting brown.

Hello book1962, I think people mix apples with salt for an added flavor actually and the taste should be awesome. I love it too sometimes when I have a sour taste in my mouth.

Salted apples taste good. People really like eating foods with
strong tastes. Apples have a weak taste, and when you put salt in
it, it would be more satisfying.

On the health issue side, I don't think there is an added
benefit in salting apples.
