Women who like tools

How many of you like tools? I grew up with a very handy mother and am pretty handy myself. My grandmother always thought it was very strange that we'd ask for things like weedeaters, hammer drills, and the like for birthdays and Christmas. I have more 'man tools' than my SO, even! If a woman asked you for a power tool or equipment, would you think it was weird? Would you get her what she asked for (if you could afford it)? Or would you get her something more feminine?

I own more tools than my Dad, so I guess I qualify. I do a lot of carpentry at work, so I got familar with most of the tools there. Then, when me and my BF bought our house we started getting more tools to work on it. Last christmas, my dad gave me a compound miter saw, and my BF's dad gave me a new level (after asking my BF what I wanted). My boyfriend has given me a couple tools, but since we both benefit from them, he usually tries to get me something more personal, like jewelry or a nice set of kitchen knives (wow, that kind of sounds wierd, now that I've reread it!)

Awesome! I'm afraid I'm not much of a carpenter, but I'd love to learn. Certain tools I use almost 100%, but my guy and I own a few together. He recently bought 'us' a really nice set of knives, too!

Well I would think it was weird and get her something else. But that's maybe just because I don't really know any girls that good with tools :D

My mom's SO was the same way. He bought her jewelry and perfume -- the standard stuff -- but he's started getting her things she actually uses and likes. Of course, he still gets her the more feminine stuff, but he's learning!

I would get what she asked for. And, if I really could afford to go all out, I'd probably get myself something in the tool line as well. Of course, I prefer hand tools so that would likely not be a problem. My second favourite place to browse in is hardware stores. I love walking up and down the isles just looking at "things". I think I find some sort of comfort/safety in knowing that, if I have the right tool, I can fix most things ... if I put my mind to it. Of course, there are times when muscle is needed and I have to call on someone else with that little extra to get the job done. Tools rule!!!

One for her, one for you! I like how that works. Tools are great!
