Will SOMEONE Tell Donna Brazile ...  email this discussion to a friend?

The word "gesture" is pronounced "jes ture" and not "guestshure."

I'm really getting weary of seeing her on CNN and using the word "guestshure" in error, not once, but MANY times.

Lordy! You'd think a public figure like Brazile would know better ... or that SOMEONE on the shows she appears on would say, "Er, Donna, you keep mispronouncing 'jes ture.'"

I can accept her not using "ing," preferring to use "in'" for words like ending, singing, talking, etc., but to mispronounce the same word time after time isn't very acceptable.

What do you think? Should a person who deals with the public as her life's blood be expected to speak correctly? Never mind George Bush. If he hasn't learned how to speak correctly by this point, a few months more won't really matter.

Brazile is a Democratic political strategist who has worked on many Democratic presidential campaigns and as Campaign Manager for Al Gore in 2000.

You mean she is dropping the 'g' off of those words? That would bother me just as badly. LOL!

She drops the "g" off all words that end with "ing."

That's annoying, but not nearly as annoying as saying on nationwide TV, "That was a great guestchure."

I grind my teeth together every time I hear her use that word.

Things like that set my teeth on edge too.
One of my personal bugbears is when people say "exscape" instead of "escape". Drives me mad!

Hmm, I'll have to listen to hear if I can catch Donna saying "Excape."

Now if I hear her say, "Let's excape this Obama guy," I won't ever correct her grammar again.

Just heard "Agent John Doggett" on the X-Files, say it. *grinds teeth* lol
