Italy through to the quarterfinals - now it's CHAOS here in my town!

This has always stunned me ever since I moved to Italy over 30 years ago. Every time the national football team wins then EVERY person who owns a car takes it into the centre of the town he lives in and HOOTS HIS HORN for ages and ages. It's 11 pm here and many are already asleep but that makes no difference shocked lol

I say well done Italy but why this perfomance every time???

What amazes me is that it is the SAME thing for so many years. Even kids on their scooters and motorbikes join in waving the national team's colors (I've seen nasty incidents with scarves getting caught in wheels too ) No fighting, no drinking - they are just all happy and it seems to be the only thing that unites the entire country from north to south

Yes you said right!
But you have to understand that it wasn't a normal football match... it was against the France and we didn't beat them in the 90 minutes of the match since '78!!!!
It's normal be very happy :) isn't it?

Oh yes! Don't get me wrong - I am happy they won too! I am also happy to see other people happy But WHY do they celebrate in that manner? That's what I cannot understand. Why hooting the car horns? Maybe you can explain this please.

I think they do that to comunicate their happiness also when they are in the cars... then other people follow them and get affixed the car to make only noise and I understand that it may distrub! We are Italian... you can do nothing :P

Isn't that the rudest? I hate sports partly becuase of all the kaos they bring. The other reason I hate them is those outrageous, high, over paid salaries they get. I work harded than any of them in only 8 hours and do it every day ,and I probably don't even come close to their monthly salary as my yearly income!!!! Sore subject with me - sports and their salaries!
