laugh with me, not at me |

I did something last night that was not smart at all. I didn't even think about it til I had to pay the price this morning. You see, I'm starting potty training with Kate, and taking a slow go at it, as advised. She has a package of Swim diapers, and found one of them with a Disney character she really enjoys. So, when she took off her diaper to pretend to go potty, and asked for her swim diaper, I let her put it on, because it slides on like undies and I'm trying to encourage her.
Well, I forgot to get it off before she went to sleep.
It leaked.
A lot.
Question for discussion--What was the last big mess you had to clean up that was totally your own fault?

He could not protect us from wet sheets:( |

1. blackbriar (6286) | 1 year ago | Oh nooooooo!! I know from experience that was, indeed, a huge and stinky mess. That happened to me once as well and was totally my fault. A friend of mine was visiting for a week and she has a son who is very autistic. Well, he wasn't even potty trained at the age of 10 and went to sleep on the couch. Stupid me should of changed his diaper a couple times in the middle of the night cause he soaked 2 of the 3 cushions right thru. I ended up just burning them and getting a futon mattress instead.

Katesmama (3222) | 1 year ago | Yikes! I watch a two year old that is an over active pee-er, and I have to change her diaper in her sleep if she's down for more than an hour.

3. stephcjh (22851) | 1 year ago | LOL. Oops. the last big mess that I had was when my husband brought me home some laundry detergent in regular jugs. I always fill up my self dispensing jug with those jugs. My sefl dispenser, dispenses the laundry detergent out into a cup just by holding in a button. You have to leave the small cap off of it so it will dispense right and get air in the jug. I filled the jug and went to put it back up on my laundry rack. I had it backwards with the cap end toward me instead of the dispenser end. I dumped the laundry detergent out on my washer and down the fromt of me and on the floor. I felt so dumb and was upset to lose some laundry detergent.

4. SomeCowgirl (8176) | 1 year ago | I can't really think of any big messes that I have done recently. I did cut a bag of pizza rolls open too far and well, most of the fell out of the bag. They landed on the floor but were still edible as they did not have any hair or dirt on them. We keep the floors pretty clean around here. Have a Great day.

SomeCowgirl (8176) | 1 year ago | This is true, I didn't actually think about it that way. You can always rinse them, but I thought if I rinsed them and stuck them back in the freezer it could cause freezer burn. Have a Great day.

6. carlaabt (3164) | 1 year ago | I'm trying to think of the last big mess that was totally my own fault....I'm drawing a blank, because I clean up so many messes everyday that AREN'T my fault! Between my dogs and my two year old, there is always some mess to clean up.
The last big mess that I had to clean up that was my husband's fault, revolved around a diaper, too. Or lack of one. My son is day time potty trained, but he still wears a diaper to bed, because he just doesn't wake up. A couple of weeks ago, for whatever reason, my husband didn't put a diaper on him before he put him in bed. When I went in to help Elliott get dressed the next morning, and to take him to the potty, etc, he was standing by his dresser, looking for clean clothes. He had already removed his dirty pajamas, and used a clean shirt to wipe himself as good as he could, and put on clean underwear. He had made a mess all over his bed, sheets, and comforter while he slept, and then got up, took off his clothes, stepped in it, tracked it across his carpet, used his hand to wipe off his foot, smeared it on table, etc! I was so wishing he was still in a crib!!!

Katesmama (3222) | 1 year ago | Oh! that poor baby! Kate used to have a problem with pooping in the bath tub, and it really bothered her to do it. I can imagine how that feels, for you and for him. Poor guy! I would have killed my fella!

7. sparkofinsanity (3528) | 1 year ago | Do you really want to go here with me? LOL 1. cleaning up the house after the soon be ex after I him put in the RV. 2. cleaning up the RV before I put the soon to be ex in it. 3. cleaning up the basement after I pulled on a piece of ceiling board and the whole damn thing came down on me. 4. cleaning up the kitchen after I made coffee, but forgot to empty the pot first - REAL mess. 5. cleaning out the fridge after the soon to be ex move out.
And all this and more in just one day. Any more questions? ROFL

sparkofinsanity (3528) | 1 year ago | LOL - sure you can have all the ones in my cupboard, and that's a lot. I got myself one of those wire ones and don't use the paper ones anymore.
| |
|
|
Katesmama (3222) | 1 year ago | Wire ones!? I've never heard of such a thing?! Really, how does that work?
| |
|
|
sparkofinsanity (3528) | 1 year ago | Do you live under a rock woman? ROFL They are wire/plastic baskets you can buy for your coffee maker. Check a large kitchen outfitters/department and you should find them. They are a basket that comes in two styles - the flat bottom and the pointed bottom, and you drop them in like you would a paper filter, put in the coffee and you're good to go. Just don't use really finely ground coffee. A touch of salt to neutralize the bitterness and turn on the pot. Afterwards, just remove the basket, wash the grounds down the sink (it's really good for your pipes) or spread the grounds around your plants (it's good for keeping critters and insects away), rinse the basket and put it back into the coffee maker for the next time. No sweat and saves a ton of money. Those damn filters can be expensive.

8. teapotmommommerced (5724) | 1 year ago | The saturday before father's day my hubby and I went down to see our daughter. I reached in the fridge to get some lemon aid out and knocked the yogurt out, it hit the side of the fridg, my pant leg, and all over my shoe before hitting the floor. I had to clean it up and there was no wash clothes. My daughter and her hubby live with his mother and she does not use wash clothes only sponges. I had to clean up the mess with a sponge. yuck
| |
| |
|
|
Katesmama (3222) | 1 year ago | OH! I don't have enough sponges in the house to have to do that. I have this wierd thing with having wet hands, and can't do the necessary wringing of the sponge.

Katesmama (3222) | 1 year ago | Don't laugh.
First I am a slave to my dishwasher, so that's my solution for dishes.
Other cleaning-
Kitchen-spray the counters down with vinegar and wipe with lightly damp, hot towel.
Bathrooms and stuff-I have an extention arm with a scouring pad. After cleaning, my fella take s the pad off and cleans it.
When I wash my hands, I do it very throughly and dry them right away. If there is no towel, I find something, and wash them again.
I have no idea how I got this way.

|
|
teapotmommommerced (5724) | 1 year ago | I am so sorry to hear about that. I love the hot soapy water on my hands. I do not like it when the water gets to grimy. I do like that you use vinegar. I also like that your man helps you.

The last mess that was totally my own fault my adorable hubby cleaned up for me. But then I have cleaned up a few of his, particularly the barbecue sauce he splatted in the kitchen tonight.

Katesmama (3222) | 1 year ago | You're a lucky lassy! I am the primary cleaner, though my fella did clean up some yuck that happened when I was in labor. I begged him to leave it, in fear it would become a madonna image thing after the baby was born. I was totally right, so I do not allow hom to clean anything else in fear that I will loose my womanly privileges for another six months! LOL
