How To Get A Heathy Tan  

Everyone Wants A Nice Sun Tan.The reason most people want to have a suntan is because they think it makes them look younger and thinner.

We all know that sun tanning is not good for your skin because you age quicker, get wrinkles and even worse it can lead to skin cancer.

That is why a lot of companies made bronzers. Over the week-end I read this in a newspaper:

"THE PRODUCT:

Lancôme Flash Bronzer($38 for 125 milliliters),

THEY PROMISE:

'The transfer-resistant self-tanning gel dries ultra-quickly and tans your skin, not your clothes.'

HOW IT WORKS:

The gel's tinted formula of ginkgo biloba and caffeine dries within minutes to ensure an 'impeccable result.'

HOW TO USE IT:

Apply gel along leg and massage in with both hands until desired finish is achieved.

THE RESULTS:

Your worst self-tanning nightmare: orange glow. And to make things even worse, it smells like cheap hair spray.

THE BOTTOM LINE

Buy this for a 'frenemy' or use it if you want to be a pumpkin for Halloween.

THE PRODUCT:

Cargo Multi-mix Bronzer ($28 for 30 milliliters at http://www.sephora.com)

THEY PROMISE:

'The only liquid bronzer you can mix with your foundation, primer or tinted moisturizer to customize the extent of your bronze glow.'

HOW IT WORKS:

The bronzer is paraben-free and contains vitamin E to help the skin fight off environmental damage, while providing moisture.

HOW TO USE :

Add a few drops to products you already use or apply directly to the skin for a higher concentration.

THE RESULTS:

Even though we applied it directly to the skin, there was barely any color after two applications.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

Only use if you have extremely fair skin or if you want to start off really light.

L'Oréal Sublime Bronze gradual self-tanning lotion ($15 for 200 milliliters at drugstores)

THEY PROMISE:

'Delivers just a hint of color with each application, allowing you to control how deep you want your tan to be.'

HOW IT WORKS:

The patented formula with self adjusting technology gradually builds the perfect tan.

HOW TO USE IT:

Cleanse and exfoliate skin before smoothing lotion on evenly. Use sparingly around hinge joints.

THE RESULTS:

The product produced intense, unrealistic color after only two applications, making us question L'Oréal's definition of gradual.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

Only use it if you want to trick your co-workers into thinking you went to the Caribbean.

THE PRODUCT:

Biotherm Sun Tan ($34.95 for 150 milliliters at drugstores)

THEY PROMISE:

'The fresh self tanning milk for the face and body gives a natural-looking and even tan for seven days along with deliciously shimmering skin right after application.'

HOW IT WORKS:

The light and milky consistency easily penetrates the epidermis for immediate results.

HOW TO USE IT:

Apply evenly, avoiding the eye contour, eyebrows and hairline.

THE RESULTS:

Produced good results, but application lines were visible.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

This product isn't worth it unless you're picky about fragrances. It smells like lemons, which is a refreshing departure from the medicinal scent of most self-tanners.

THEY PROMISE:

'Gives skin a touch of sun-kissed color while moisturizing.

HOW IT WORKS:

The flower extract quickly penetrates skin and works to boost its natural color.

HOW TO USE IT:

Use in place of your daily moisturizer.

THE RESULTS:

Skin was noticeably darker after only two applications. There were no traces of orange nor did it leave any application seams.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

Use it if you're willing to invest a few days and a few extra dollars.

HOW IT WORKS:

The tanning agent and grape seed oil work to build a glow while improving skin's firmness.

HOW TO USE IT:

Use as a substitute for your regular body lotion.

THE RESULTS:

A subtle color boost that you won't believe came from a bottle.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

A gradual approach is key to keeping it real in the land of indoor tanning. Although this lotion produced one of the lighter shades, it was the most realistic-looking. And it smells like caramel popcorn!
