It must be the heat! |
|
Is it just me or has anyone elde noticed that recently here on MyLot many users get 'heated'? I usually keep out of the way when tempers fray but I also state my opinion. This seems to differ from others on more occasions recently and others start 'flaring'. This wasn't the case until recently so could it be caused by the heatwave that is being experienced in many parts of the world right now? Does the heat affect your way of saying things?

2. Marleysa (2783) | 4 months ago | I do get more cranky when it's hot outside. I am SO much happier when it's cold out. When you are hot there is nothing you can do about it but when you are cold you can get a blanket or a coat. The hotter it is outside, the hotter my temper gets. So in answer to your question, yes, it does affect my temperament a lot..lol..

4. mentalward (1770) | 4 months ago | I really haven't been here long enough to really notice a trend, but it could very well be the heat. I think it's a lot more, though... like the rising cost of energy, commodities, etc. There is so much bad news these days that it is affecting everything, including attitudes, in my opinion. My son just came to visit me, which is kinda rare. He seemed so 'down'. He was telling me about his recent raise, which was kind of pitiful, even though he works his derriere off. Of course, the raise doesn't offset the rising costs of everything else and I'm sure that most people are feeling the 'pinch'. Heat usually makes tempers rise. I used to live in Baltimore City, and I could see it just by looking out my window. My cousin, who used to be a police officer, said she always saw a rise in arrests for assault and battery during periods of extreme heat. There's definitely something to it! But, personally, I just came in from doing some gardening. It's 85 deg. outside and I was dripping wet by the time I finished. I wouldn't have the energy to get "heated" even if I tried! LOL I just want to cool off.

5. wolfie34 (11411) | 4 months ago | I have to admit that the heat makes me moody and irritable, I don't like the humidity and I find the heat sometimes too much, I cope much better in the cold, I guess I was an eskimo in my former life! It also makes me feel lethargic and tired too. So yes I can understand the heat making people fray quickly and get irritable and fractious, because I can relate to that, I don't enter heated debates anyhow and prefer to take the backseat, life is strenuous enough without losing your temper over a difference of opinion, it takes too much effort, too much effort makes you hotter. I don't like the heat so I stay out of the kitchen!

6. hiccup (4750) | 4 months ago | Like life there are those who will not be open minded and can never see the other person's point. They always want to thrust down your throat their idea with out care for you or anyone else. We have a few here in mylot, you get to know who they are and for me I just do not comment on anything they put up. I have found no matter what you say to them you are always wrong, I dont need that crap, so I just do not go there. And for heat of the day, they need to take a walk away from the PC and have a cool drink, and to take a break.

7. Hatley (12607) | 4 months ago | I guess it does affect how we say things as we get hot and uncomfortable, then get cranky. but we should not take it out on each other mylot users. thats not fair and not respecting each others views that way either. we can state our opinions but others should not make insulting cracks at us for our opinions either.
