I am now a not so proud owner of a brand new piece of junk. |

The lawnmower we had at the old house was not worth bringing with us so we left it behind with plans to buy a new one when we got settled in. Well that day was today. I had mixed emotions about getting a new lawn mower because that meant I had to mow the lawn. My hubby went into town and come home with a really nice self driving machine that made all my previous mowers look puny. We get it all set up and filled up. I had the pleasure of using it first. WOOHOO!!! It fired right up - I didnt have to yank and yank on the cord, there was no priming or nothing. Man that was nice! I got half the back yard done and decided to let my hubby take it for a spin around the rest of the yard. He started it up and went maybe 10 feet and ran over a large sapling. I wasnt worried about the sappling as much as I was the mower. It was making the most horrible noise and it seemed to be caught on something. When hubby finally freed it and pulled it to where I could see I was horrified at what I saw. The rubber gaurd on the back was ripped halfway off and is now under the mower being shredded! I ran over yelling and finally got him to shut it off. We had to rip the gaurd the rest of the way off because he messed it up too bad to put it back on. I thought ok that was the noise and it should be ok now. Well that was not the case when he fired it back up. It sounds like the blade is hitting something metal inside the deck of the lawnmower. He tinkered with it for a while but couldnt make that noise stop. I am so mad I cant see straight. A brand new mower! Didnt even own it an hour and he broke it. It is now a $200 piece of junk. at least it still runs and cuts the grass - it just sounds horrible. And worse yet, when the neighbor came over to chat my hubby blamed it on me. WTF??? No question here - just needed to vent, thanks *still trying to rid myself of a star so please minus this discussion and any comments left by me here thanks*

1. twallace (2600) | 4 months ago | That's a bummer, but don't feel bad it could be fixed. If you look in the yellow pages there might be a someone listed that can fix riding mowers. It's new and for that reason alone you should not kick it to the curb. Look in the yellow pages and see if you can find someone to fix it. Don't worry it will be fine. Have a good one.

2. brokentia (7831) | 4 months ago | And this would be why men are NOT allowed to even vacuum! ha ha Because anything on the ground in the way of the mower or on the floor in way of the vacuum is subject to being ran over anyways! I have discovered that if I do not want something broken, done halfass'd, or to even to look somewhat nice...I have to do it myself! My partner decided to cut down tree limbs from the trees growing over our yard from the neighbor's but then just threw them in front of the shed! After he said that he would take it too the dump and it didn't happen and started to decay and smell horrible...I had to cut them down to pieces and bundle them up into 3 foot bundle and put them by the road for trash pickup. And of course when I mentioned to my partner that is what he should have done to begin with...his comment was that he was not going to pay for twine to have it thrown away. Hmmm....cause that whole 2 bucks broke us! But when it comes to power tools....he blew up a power paint sprayer hose because he was too lazy to clean it properly. Yum...yeah...that is a goo 200 bucks down the drain! But then he tried to blame it on the person that was supposed to clean it...not sure whom he was implying when he was the last and only one to use it! So...I know how you feel!

3. uath13 (2518) | 4 months ago | Sounds like he may have bent the blade a bit. You should try replacing it & see if that helps. Most hardware stores & even Walmart carry replacement blades for the major brands.
