I used to LOVE this show! It took place during such exciting and fun times and every episode was so interesting. It dealt with major issues back in the 60's and this effected the loves of African Americans and whites back then. It was also a really great family show and I hate that they took it off the air after only 3 seasons. Probably because it wasn't more sex oriented pft...For those of you who are not familar with it, here's the IMDB link to it:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0319930

Last year I bought season 1 on DVD and have been patiently waiting for season 2 and 3 to come out but as far as I can see they still have not released them on DVD. In any case, just yesterday I found some free episodes of this series online and I have been watching some of season 2 online. The site does not have all of season 2 on there, I hate that! It's really great non the less to be able to watch at least some of the episodes online.

However, does anyone have any information when seaon 2 and season 3 will be coming out on DVD? I want to buy them and I haven't really heard anything about their release. I would really appreciate any information that anyone can give me regarding this show. Also, please, share your thoughts on the show as well....

I watched a few episodes of this series & I didn't like it. I found it rather boring & the actors were not anyone I really even knew. I did like the music & the view it gave to a life way back when before things really started getting bad in the world. It made me wish I had grown up then rather then now. As for the show itself, I don't misss it at all.

I remember it so well and one of the things that I really loved about it was, I grew up in that era, I was about the same age as Meg was in the 60's.. I watched American Bandstand, danced to the music with my friends, lived in a one phone family, dated, went to drive-in theaters, ate out at a malt shop, went to school everyday, cared about the world and its problems, ate meals with my family every night, argued with my sisters, listened and watched all of the news on an old TV about President Kennedy getting killed.. There was also much news about racial tensions and race riots.. It was a wonderful time to be a teenager.. It was also a time that we did have certain problems that changed world history, such as the killing of our president and the race riots, and the Vietnam war, other than that it was a perfect time to be a teen.. I really wish that it had not been taken off the air.. There was an innocent quality to the show, much as there was the same innocent quality to growing up in that time period.. I watched every episode, every season when it was on.. Thanks so much for this post as it brought back many good memories, I will be watching for the DVD's now..

Wow, that's too cool! It really did seem like an interesting time to be a teenager. I would love to hear more stories, you have to PM me with them;-P

You're welcome by the way and I agree I hate that they took it off the air and probably for some NC17 tv show too pft...

I do love to remember what I call "back in the good old days".. My husband was 15 and I was 16 when we met.. We met at a small corner store that had a jukebox and pinball machines.. I used to play pinball with the best of them.. We went to the same school together and never had the same classes, but run into each other in the halls between classes.. We also got caught cutting classes and going across and down the street to a pinball hangout, where the principal always found us and drug us back to class..

I also worked as a car hop at the A&W Root Beer which had just moved to Knoxville.. I worked for .50 an hour and tips, which were spent at the K-Mart down the road after we got off of work for the evening.. We used to go to Sharps Ridge to makeout, if it wasn't too crowded with other kids and if the cops didn't come and run us off.. We also made out on the front porch until the light went on and off, that was a signal that we had better get in the house right now, which we did.. We walked each other home each night after a date, and we were in no danger, even after dark.. We dated for 3 years and were together when we heard about President Kennedy getting killed, it was just as they showed it on American Dreams, we were all in shock.. We were there when the Vietnam war started and although hubby never had to go to "Nam", we were very afraid until we found out different, he was stationed somewhere else.. We were very lucky as many of our friends got killed in the war.. We watched on TV the first time that the Beatles were on Ed Sullivan, we watched and danced to the American Bandstand shows.. We took the phone into the closet to talk trash to our boyfriends.. I had 7 sisters and 2 brothers, and all of them were a pain in the behind.. We argued and fought until our dad gave us "the look", then we shut up, after a couple more smart remarks.. We knew when to really shut up.. Our brothers didn't want us around pestering them but defended us if and when we needed them to.. We heard the very best music, enjoyed ball games, went to sock hops and got into trouble at school and at home, because our parents trusted the teachers completely.. I do still have the same 15 years old that I started dating back in 1965, he is older but better.. Thanks for listening to an older "teen" reminiscing. but I gotta go now because my son and his wife are doing Karoake in the living room and I can't hear myself think.. Life is a trip, a very good one if you have a bunch of good memories to call on sometimes.. Again, thanks for listening.. Donna

You know, I was never informed of this comment and so, I didn't read it til just now. Those slackers LMBO!

I loved reading your story! It must have been so amazing to be there when all this stuff was taking place. Some of it must have been scary too I bet. Those seemed like were such fun and carefree times. I wish that I had been a part of it all!!!

It's so cool to hear stories from individuals who experienced it all. Thanks so much for sharing it all with me. That was so very cool of you! thumbup
