You only need love to survive: Can you believe that this is possible today?  

I've read one of the most touching story just few ticks ago about a couple who defied all, just to be with each other and he built a love ladder for her. True story and one that quite impossible to exist nowadays!

It is a story of a 19 year old man and 29 year old woman who eloped to avoid gossips in their community. They went up to the mountains and lived in seclusion inside a cave.

In the beginning, they had nothing and lived like cave people. They had to eat grass and roots they found in the mountain.

On their second year, the husband began to hand carve steps so that his wife could get down the mountain easily, (but his wife seldom goes down the mountain) and continue for over 50 years.

A half century later in 2001, explorers found the elderly couple and the over 6,000 stairs of hand carved steps. They had seven kids and one said that their parents never been apart a single day for over 50 years.

When the 72 years-old husband returned from his daily farm work and collapsed, the wife sat and prayed with her husband as he passed away in her arms. So in love with the wife that no one was able to release the grip he had on his wife’s hand even after he had passed away.

“You promised me you’ll take care of me, you’ll always be with me until the day I died, now you left before me, how am I going to live without you?” … …


Xu, the wife, spent days softly repeating this sentence and touching her husband’s black coffin with tears rolling down her cheeks.

It helps me believe that it is possible that you can live on love alone. Diamonds, Big house, the fancy cars, money, etc…. is not what life is all about.

I supposed that was over 50 years ago, lifestyle back then in China were austere and simple, no TV, computers, power etc., having really nothing much to compare their lives with, the rustic and simple life up in the mountains are just the same in their town except they found peace and happiness and their own world to themselves.
