Why Do Men Have To Fiddle |
| |
| With things they know nothing about. It appears hubby has fiddled with his computer. And I cannot fix the problem, so I am hoping someone can help me. His pages are now far too big for his monitor. To view the pages he needs to keep moving the bar at the bottom of the page. This man frustrates me sometimes beyond frustrating. LOL Can anyone tell me if I can get it back to a smaller size please. Is your hubby/wife/partner a fiddler, what have they fiddled with and could not fix again. | | | | | |

| | Hi Goodie. I have had that problem from time to time. I'm the only one here who fiddles though. OK...to fix the problem of the content of the page being too large. Hold down the Ctrl button and use the scroll button on the mouse and the size of the letters will change. Scroll one way and the letters get larger, in the other direction they get smaller. I hope this helps out and I'm hoping you have a mouse that has a scroll button, too. :-D | | | | | | |

| | Oh Goodie men always have to have a fiddle don't they LOL usually with something attached to them. I don't know too much about computers but had this happen to mine the other day and I just went into system restore and backdated it a couple of days and it did resolve it. Hope this helps a little bit but I am sure that there are some more computer aware people on her that can talk you through it better than I. Hope you get it sorted though. Ellie :D | | | | | | |

| | Internet Explorer Zoom lets you enlarge or reduce the view of a webpage. Unlike changing font size, zoom enlarges or reduces everything on the page, including text and images. You can zoom from 10% to 1000%. Click to open Internet Explorer. On the bottom right of the Internet Explorer screen, click the arrow next to the Change Zoom Level button . To go to a predefined zoom level, click the percentage of enlargement or reduction you want. - or - To specify a custom level, click Custom. In the Percentage zoom box, type a zoom value, and then click OK. | | | |

| | sorry Ruth I have searched everywhere and cannot find zoom. It seems to have disappeared from the screen. | | | |
Ruthep (7334)
|
| | that is why my husband doesn't do anything on the computer. If you have a mouse with a wheel, hold down the CTRL key, and then scroll the wheel to zoom in or out. If you click the Change Zoom Level button , it will cycle through 100%, 125%, and 150%, giving you a quick enlargement of the webpage. From the keyboard you can increase or decrease the zoom value in 10% increments. To zoom in, press CTRL+(+). To zoom out, press CTRL+(-). To restore the zoom to 100%, press CTRL+0. maybe you can use the keyboard to ecrease the size. Is it possible to lower wour windows bar at the bottom so you can see all of the browser window and get to the zoom thing? If nothing else works you might have to just reset to default settings. | | | |

| | Don't I know it. He can fix just about anything, but keep him away from water pipes (even pulling a stool off, which I'm doing tomorrow) to the computer. I think it is could be as easy as going into the control panel and changing the Display. There are certain Pixals to enlarge or reduce the screen so I hope it's as easy as that. You know, with all their stuff, you just gotta love them, sometimes.. | | | | | | |

| | Yes, that's where you need to be. Resize the screen and then it will display and then ask you if this is what you want. You can expirement with screen size and just tell it you want to apply the change and it's a done deal babe. I really hope it's as easy as all that for you. There will be a message, so many seconds until it does whatever, and if you don't want it click no and try another screen size. Once you find one that's right, click yes or accept and then apply and it will take. I hope this makes sense. | | | |

| | Why do men have to fiddle? Simple. It's a guy thing. I'm constantly getting in trouble for fiddling with my computer. And it's a work computer. But I explain to the tech guys that I like to try new stuff out. Being guys, they understand - they even let me be one of the Beta testers for Vista for our office. The real reason is because we guys can't give birth. We can co-create life (which is fun), but the formation of a new being takes place within a woman. And all we can do is watch and wait. And once the baby is born, we can give it a bottle, but not nurse the kid. So we have to build stuff. And fix stuff. And tweak stuff. But to answer another part of the question, Right-click on the desktop, go to display settings, and pick a higher resolution with as many colors as you want (16-bit and 32-bit give you the most colors). The higher resolution (1440 by 900, for example) will put more "stuff" on your screen (i.e., things will look smaller, but you'll see more), whereas a lower resolution (640 by 480) will make things bigger, but you won't see as much. | | | | | | |

| | Without fiddling, how can you ever learn? You can not go into every situation knowing exactly how to solve your problems so you just need to try things to figure out how things work. Especially on computers. How do you think the people who can tell you how to fix your problems know how to solve them? They fiddled around and got to know their computer. In terms of your problem, you have been very vague. I'm assuming that you are referring to web pages and not pages in some sort of desktop publishing software. Which web browser are you using? Have you tried fiddling with the things that were fiddled with when the problem was caused? | | | | | | |

| | What if you just reset to default settings? Here are instructions on how... To reset Internet Explorer to the default settings Close any Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer windows that are currently open. Open Internet Explorer. Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset. In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset. When Internet Explorer finishes restoring the default settings, click Close, and then click OK. Close Internet Explorer. The changes will take effect the next time you open Internet Explorer. | | | |

| | That happens to me quite often, whether I'm fiddling around or not doesn't seem to have anything to do with it. I have never figured out how to resolve that issue. I hate having to scroll back and forth back and forth, so I will be following this discussion to see if a solution arrives! I had another situation arise today... and I wasn't fiddling around then either! I used to be able to go to my inbox and right click on an email and open it in a new window, but as of today for no phucking reason whatsoever that option no longer is available when I right click on the email. All this reminds me of a joke somebody sent me the other day: Computer Problems I was having trouble with my computer. So I called Eric, the 11 year old next door, whose bedroom looks like Mission Control and asked him to come over. Eric clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem. As he was walking away, I called after him, 'So, what was wrong? He replied, 'It was an ID ten T error.' I didn't want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired, 'An, ID ten T error? What's that? In case I need to fix it again?' Eric grinned. ... 'Haven't you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?' 'No,' I replied. 'Write it down,' he said, 'and I think you'll figure it out.' So I wrote down: I D 1 0 T I used to like Eric Hehehehehe... that is exactly what I feel like sometimes with my computer. | | | | | | |

| | You didn't get my post. Not your fault. I would like for you to go on the website: microsoft.com and type in repair. It will ask you what Widows you have. choose it and click. The next page will give you space for a question. Ask it and choose how many responses you want, the exact words or whatever and go to what comes out. If you get a good response, follow the instructions. You can also refine your search. but, in the end, you might have to make a backup disc of all programs and settings and do a clean boot. Turn off the computer. Turn it back on while at the same time pressing F12 as fast as you can. The screen might go to password. Give password and press. You will get a boot and diagnostic window. choose boot from disc and put in that loader disc, press and follow the leader. when it gets to choosing partitions, choose the big one and start the reformat. (Yes, You will lose everything. But will have been resurrected. Now, for the next umpteen hours you can sit there or whatever and watch your computer adjust, gobble up the OS and generally frustrate you. At the end, it won't be so bad because you can load in your many programs, apps, applets, and favorites and all that. And, you will have a normal screen you can adjust in Settings. If your monitor came with a test disc, it might be a good idea to put it in and give you monitor a checkout. Most are sent along with the monitor to adjust as you need. By the way, did you check out Accessories in the All Programs list and choose Accessibility? that adjust a lot of things, not all of them I know because I don't use it. I know it will let you adjust letter sizes and such. | | | |

| | Oh. He took out the guts. Go buy a new handle and guts. Inside the box or packet are directions to do the job yourself. Since most everything has been standardized over the years for home contractors, I bet you won't have to do any big finish carpentry work. some of the big warehouses have online sites that will show you how its done. I did three with package directions and it took me just over an hour. Now you can choose that fancy door handle you've always wanted to go there. I'm a guy. He probably became disinterested after unsuccessful probing around, then, of course, left to devote his energies into something more worthwhile. I have to replace the headphone jack on my new stereo receiver. Its been sitting on the work bench for four weeks. Instead, I've rewired my whole audio visual center and added my HDD TV converter for an old TV. My wife, I think she has given up on me. Sorry about sending you Goodie123's blog about the display size on her monitor. | | | |
