Ellie, this man of mine is good at everything except computers.
I do not know how back I would need to go on restore.
I only remembered it as I was downloading something for him.
Owwwww he is going to cop it bigtime.

If it was something he was downloading today just go back to yesterday and set for then. Mine happened when I loaded a CD rom in the other day so I just went back to the previous day and restored and all was fine again! Ellie :D

Oh I am sorry that nobody was able to help. The only other thing I can think is to go back and restore to before your husband originally downloaded whatever he did and shut down and restart or if you know what he downloaded unistall it and then shut down and restart. Ellie :D

When you are on display, go to settings and choose screen size. Choose the highest possible. You should see all on one page....

It is his desktop Pola.
But it is not the font size, it is the page size.
Will changing the font size make the pages smaller.
I am not very computer literate, but I know heaps more then hubby does. LMAO

under settings you should see screen resolution....and you can choose less or more....more is better...
The higher resolution the better...

Okay did that Pola, even after applying and okaying it will not stay on the setting I chose.
It just keeps going back to where it was.

I have been clicking apply Pola, then I click ok when it has finished doing its stuff.

Hi Ruth, when I go up to tools there is nothing there about screen size.

do you have an F11? that should correspond.
Do you have 2 places for tools. I do and 1 has it but the other doesn't.
Check and see if you have a second tools over toward the right hand side right on top the browser window. If you have that that is where it will be. If it isn't let me know I'll give you another place to find it.

sorry Ruth I have searched everywhere and cannot find zoom.
It seems to have disappeared from the screen.

that is why my husband doesn't do anything on the computer.
If you have a mouse with a wheel, hold down the CTRL key, and then scroll the wheel to zoom in or out.

If you click the Change Zoom Level button , it will cycle through 100%, 125%, and 150%, giving you a quick enlargement of the webpage.

From the keyboard you can increase or decrease the zoom value in 10% increments. To zoom in, press CTRL+(+). To zoom out, press CTRL+(-). To restore the zoom to 100%, press CTRL+0.
maybe you can use the keyboard to ecrease the size.
Is it possible to lower wour windows bar at the bottom so you can see all of the browser window and get to the zoom thing?
If nothing else works you might have to just reset to default settings.

Sorry Ruth going backwards and forwards between two computers here.
Nothing appears to work on his computer.
Holding down ctrl and scrolling the mouse nothing happens at all.
Using ctrl and + or - does nothing either.

Yes, that's where you need to be. Resize the screen and then it will display and then ask you if this is what you want. You can expirement with screen size and just tell it you want to apply the change and it's a done deal babe. I really hope it's as easy as all that for you.

There will be a message, so many seconds until it does whatever, and if you don't want it click no and try another screen size. Once you find one that's right, click yes or accept and then apply and it will take. I hope this makes sense.

I think it's time to buy a new computer with a plasma monitor.


Oh, yeah. When you click OK or Apply, there might be a little message saying it's going to revert back in 15 seconds. Be sure to click OK there, too.

Otherwise, I think your hubby needs a new computer to fiddle with.

We have flat screen monitors.

Maybe he start fiddling with the buttons on the monitor? I have no experience with flat-screen monitors, but I know the clunky ones have settings buttons on the front that can be fiddled with.

Um my man is very good when fiddling with anything but computers.

Here are instructions on how...

To reset Internet Explorer to the default settings

At top right, there is a drop down icon that says "page". You can zoom in and zoom out. See if that works.

Looking at the screen again, all the printing seems too large.

At the top right, you will see that "page" drop down. There is a selection that says "text size". Check that out and see how big your fonts are set at.

there is no page thingy at the top of the page D, even the zoom thingy has disappeared.

Sorry D, his computer seems to be missing heaps of stuff.
All tha tis in that drop dwon box is Text size and encoding.

On my computer zoom is down on the right hand corner.
But His has none.

I've had the big problem before on my computer. I always just changed the settings on my computer. Try going into your control panel and click the settings panel. See what the screen resolution is. Hope that helps. Sorry he was fiddling with the computer. I really hate when that happens. I get that when my son plays with the computer, lol

She was having an off day.

You didn't get my post. Not your fault. I would like for you to go on the website: microsoft.com and type in repair. It will ask you what Widows you have. choose it and click. The next page will give you space for a question. Ask it and choose how many responses you want, the exact words or whatever and go to what comes out. If you get a good response, follow the instructions. You can also refine your search. but, in the end, you might have to make a backup disc of all programs and settings and do a clean boot. Turn off the computer. Turn it back on while at the same time pressing F12 as fast as you can. The screen might go to password. Give password and press. You will get a boot and diagnostic window. choose boot from disc and put in that loader disc, press and follow the leader. when it gets to choosing partitions, choose the big one and start the reformat. (Yes, You will lose everything. But will have been resurrected. Now, for the next umpteen hours you can sit there or whatever and watch your computer adjust, gobble up the OS and generally frustrate you. At the end, it won't be so bad because you can load in your many programs, apps, applets, and favorites and all that. And, you will have a normal screen you can adjust in Settings. If your monitor came with a test disc, it might be a good idea to put it in and give you monitor a checkout. Most are sent along with the monitor to adjust as you need. By the way, did you check out Accessories in the All Programs list and choose Accessibility? that adjust a lot of things, not all of them I know because I don't use it. I know it will let you adjust letter sizes and such.

Oh. He took out the guts. Go buy a new handle and guts. Inside the box or packet are directions to do the job yourself. Since most everything has been standardized over the years for home contractors, I bet you won't have to do any big finish carpentry work. some of the big warehouses have online sites that will show you how its done. I did three with package directions and it took me just over an hour. Now you can choose that fancy door handle you've always wanted to go there. I'm a guy. He probably became disinterested after unsuccessful probing around, then, of course, left to devote his energies into something more worthwhile. I have to replace the headphone jack on my new stereo receiver. Its been sitting on the work bench for four weeks. Instead, I've rewired my whole audio visual center and added my HDD TV converter for an old TV. My wife, I think she has given up on me.
