My doctor did a 'double take' when he saw me in his waiting room.  

Thanks for the advise, unfortunately my blood pressure reaches levels of 242/145 very quickly and my doctor has advised me not to do any exercise other than a light walk. I do have an automatic wrist blood pressure monitor, but I was told not to use it because the readings are less than what the actual pressure is. The condition I have has been concluded to be hereditary and maybe about 100,000 people in the US may have a similar problem. Right now I have to maintain a continuous intake of several blood pressure medicines to help with the condition and it brings my pressure down to 140/108 in a resting state fro a short time. It still isn't going to stop the rapid deterioration of my kidneys that has already started showing in earlier tests this year. I do spend time doing things I enjoy, for one thing posting discussions on MyLot. I didn't tell my woes for sympathy from people, but to make a point for those that may be in a similar situation. But thank you very much for being a concerned responder and your advise is absolutely correct for blood pressure conditions like ours.

242/145! Yikes. When I first went to the doctor for high blood preasure it was because I was pretty much disabled by it. I was having to lay on the couch in a fetal position completely nauseous with a severe headache. In that condition my reading was only 220/120. I can not even imagine what preasure as high as yours would do to me.

For some reason unlike normal people, my body started adjusting itself to the higher pressure so I really didn't feel the effects of it until it actually started doing damage to my body. I can relate to what you are saying when It would spike real high and after my heart enlarged, I couldn't do anything but lay down, because the headaches and nausea were just awful. But, you and I are still in the land of the living and despite our condition, have a greater appreciation for being alive.

Yes, a case like yours is a perfect example of how entirely on its own the body fights to survive, on its own, without even any conscious direction from ourselves. That's almost proof of the existence of a soul and God, IMHO.

I'm sorry to hear about your Mother-in-law's death from a stroke. Strokes are funny, you don't get to choose the ones you get. It's like a game of chance, you either win, lose or become a vegetable when it happens. The best we can do is try to prevent them. Thank You for your response of concern.

I like to believe God made things right from the beginning. Just like when he created earth for everything the earth would need to withstand in the future, he designed each of us for the things we need to endure also.
