 My friend has received two job offers, one is from USA and the other from UK, the salary offered is 30,000 US $ AND 20, 000 UK pounds per annum, plus allowances and perks. Here our salary is expressed as INR per month. Allowances are dearness allowance, house rent allowance etc..; and perks is for club and car expenses etc.
Well at 40.00 INR per US $ 50.00 UK Pounds this comes to 100, 000 INR per month, which is an alluring amount for my friend.
But he will be working in USA or UK, not in India, so is it worth joining the job there? Now let me know the purchasing power of our INR--Rupees. Cost of gas-54 INR per liter, milk-20 INR per liter, Cooking gas---350 INR for 14.5 kg, house rent-5000 INR for a small one bedroom house plus water/electric charges, meat and fish---160 INR per kilogram (kg=2.2 lb), eggs---2.5 INR each.
So please tell me about the cost of living and purchasing power of your currency.Should my friend go there or demand a higher salary, please share.

Working in a developed country is good and you'll gained good exposure besides the salary is being paid in that country's currencies. If you're highly skilled in your profession and the demand is high,there is no harm to negotiate on the pay. I should say go for it.

IF your friend compromises with absence of his dears and nears, and after calculating everything, he can send at least 25% of his earning abroad ($ or lbs), to Indian bank, he must go and get him/her self exposed to forign, learn something, while earning. H eshould also consider for his emergency return to pay visit to home for his family commitments. he must check-up his authentic travel and commited employment. He should not get caught in wrong hands. Remember one thing, To get something, one ghas to loose something. If he gets money, he has to loose company of his dears and nears. My son and my DIl, were abroad for alomost 12 yrs. They did save somthing. During my stay of six months in USA, new boys coming there from here, used to go for real state and dispose-off before their retur, which was only saving for them Have a nice time.

Food is going up and fuel is around 5 (UK pounds a gallon) It is sold in litres here and this morning I paid 1.19 pounds each litre - roughly 5 litres to an imperial gallon. Heating and lighting is also rising fast. So whilst the salaries may sound impressive, the cost of living in the UK will need to be taken into consideration. But I understand that it's on the cards that the entire world is about to dip into a recession.
