Unless they mean a low fat potato would be better for someone. I think that diabetics shouldn't eat many potatoes because they are a high glycemic food. High glycemic foods raise blood sugar levels.

I quite often make a baked potato for the person I look after and her levels do not go up that high from it.. She will usually have a 1/2 baked potato that I do in the microwave for her, then I put just enough butter on it to keep it from being too dry.. As for boiled potato, same thing, don't load it down with junk like butter, sour cream, gravy etc..

3. roshand8 (530) | 4 months ago | During digestive process carbohydrates are broken down into the simplest form of sugar and glycaemic index measures how quickly the breakdown process will take and so how fast the levels of sugar in blood rise.High glycaemic index will cause blood sugar level to raise quickly, making it more likely to develop insulin resistant, high blood pressure and diabetes. My father has both high blood pressure and diabetes so, he avoid eating high glycaemic index food.keep healthy and cheers..

roshand8 (530) | 4 months ago | Diabetics should limit their potato intake because of it high carbohydrate content. As i said before the glycaemic index of fresh or BOILED potato is 81 which is consider rather high. However glycaemic index varies considerably depending on potato type and preparation method(roast, boiled, steamed).Hope this will clear your doubts.Cheers..
