Mexican comic book drawing criticism of racism, at Walmart |
|
Can Walmart stay away from controversy like this or does it find them, or do they go looking for it.
There is a call from the black community to have a comic book pulled that is very popular among the Mexican communities, and the problem is that it seems to be offensive because one of the characters that is a little black boy with the face of a monkey.
An there are many hispanics that agree that the images are racist.

The character in question may be the hero and always save the day but I have to say right now that its not the story that is causing the ocntroversy its the images ....
Should Walmart stop selling the comics, or should the comics be re done and redesigned?
A man who grew up in Mexico and read the comics as a child would not let his kids read them.....does that tell you anything?
Should Walmart sell the comic book, or pull it, and stop selling it completely at every chain.
Would you find this offensive?

If I was running Wal-Mart(well I would not be on mylot if I was) I would ask the creator of the comic book if there was any way to change the face of the hero without doing too much damage to the comic book character. Then I would leave it up to the judgement of the comic book company.

7. lovespecialangel (2839) | 1 year ago | In my opinion, it's a comic book, nothing more. It takes a lot to offend me. If I don't like something I don't buy it or pay it attention. But that's just me. I don't take things I see personally nor do I get offended by things.
