I express myself through sandwich artistry, what do you do? |
| |
| Well, sort of. See, I've been making sandwiches for several years though the part-time jobs that I've held to make some cash. At one of these jobs, my co-workers and I would express our attitude toward certain customers by how we made their sandwiches. No, we didn't put any nasty ingredients (like bodily fluids or hair) into them. However, especially with delivery orders (since customers weren't there to see us make the sandwich) we'd write secret messages on the bun with the squirt mustard. These messages were typically curse words or pictures of body parts. Silly, of course. But it was fun and one of many small things that helped to reduce our frustration with working in the service industry and also helped us have fun. What sorts of little things do you, or your co-workers, do to relieve some stress or anger while at work? Do you constantly remove the staplers from your boss's stapler? Do you purposely move things around to annoy another person? Do you have an unspoken and funny routine, or song that you all lip synch to? Anything? Or, as an alternative if your job sucks so much that you can't think of any little things, use this space to rant about your job. Maybe this will help relieve some stress! Tell me a story! | | | | | |

| | About the only thing that we have at my office sort of along these lines is our weekly "beer 30," which is gathering in the conference room for beverages of some sort (strictly each individual's choice as to what they drink, though there is often beer in our work fridge). There's a rule that we're not supposed to talk about work while we're there, but rather just use the time to unwind at the end of the week. It's certainly one of the super awesome things about my job. :) As for me personally, I just keep a lot of really silly stuff around my office, which helps it seem not as stressful. I have an entire shelf of mini Star Wars characters, and a neon green Halloween skeleton stretched out at the base of my monitor. Just really ridiculous stuff that doesn't belong in an office environment, but it wouldn't be my office without it. :) | | | | | | |

| | Yeah, I think bringing in some personal belongings, especially silly ones makes work better. This reminded me that one of the things my office mates and I did to each other over the last school year was leave random items on each others' desks. Anytime someone handed me a religious pamphlet it always ended up on someone else's desk. We also had a fun brunch potluck on the day we all collected our students' final work. Stuff like that helps. | | | |

| | Hehehehe I love it, "Write secret messages on the bun". Just imagine if one of the customers happened to open their bun and the message was still there. Hehehehehe I do not work so I have no funny stories or rants to share. Yours was priceless. | | | | | | |

| | I always wondered if anyone ever noticed! I think it's rare for people to open their sandwiches when they get them--though some probably check their toppings to make sure it's right! | | | |

| | I like secret writing on the bun, hahaha. Me, at the office, I lip synch what is my boss saying. Like she don't like the report giving that way, i lip synch from far away what she did say to me. One time we had a meeting and I was the one she order me to write the minutes of if, but i failed too because i let myself join in the meeting by stating my side (i remember the meeting is about a personal problems of my two co-workers). I really forgot to take down notes because I am too busy participating, before the meeting end she ask me to give the minutes to her before we go home and I said , i am not taking down notes since I am talking. But still I am forcibly to give minutes to her, so what i done is i gave my draft on her with a little notes and at the end of the paper, i quote "sorry , i can't remember i guess I am talking here"...without a word from her, she made the minutes by herself without bothering me. Talk about honesty.LoL. | | | | | | |

| | I must like my job because I don't do anything like that!! However, I do like the thought of constantly removing the staples from someone's stapler. Priceless! | | | | | | |

| | Yeah, I haven't done that to anyone but if I ever work with someone I can't stand, then that will be an option for harmless revenge! I thought people were stealing the staples from my stapler during the school year, but it turns out everyone was just using it when I wasn't there. | | | |

| | Very impressive, Tina. I did not know that you were such an artist. Would this count? What if I told you that I shoved a roll of dimes up my bum and walked around like that all day, then when I made change to people I used these dimes? Especially when going through toll booths. Who do those toll booth operators think they are, charging ME to drive through their little driveways!!?? Ah yes, sweet revenge. | | | | | | |

| | That's pretty classic, Transdisc. The toll booth operators (or should I call them pooperators?) never knew what hit them!! | | | |

| | Pooperators? Ha! I knew you'd appreciate this, tina. I don't mind if you use this idea in your own artistry, as I'm sure black olives could be utilized in much the same way. | | | |
